Thanks again OP, nice deal....got my radio yesterday, activated today....CSR was nice, didnt even want my CC, just said try it for a while and decide what plan you want after a few weeks.... i thought Sirius had nothing except for Stern, but they do have some interesting channels - CNN, Fox News, CNBC, etc. then i went online to checkout XM and i was considering subscribe to their online streaming but they have nothing aside from MLB audio... wonder if we get both when they merge? |

The button switches are not the solder on kind I hoped they would be. The are just a disk of metal taped on to the circuit board.
There is a receiver for the remote control and the bezel for it is a cool violet/purple color instead of red like I have seen in TV's and other devices.
There are two places where connectors might be soldered on for programming or something.
JP1 has 6 pins labeled RESET, SCLK, (two pins, one or both marked +), MISO, MOSI. Looks like an SPI Connector.
JP2 has 4 pins labeled TX, (two pins, one or both marked +), RX. It also has two larger solder areas on both sides of the pins labeled GND. There is an arrow coming off of pin 1 (TX) that points to the text "3V3_MAIN".
There are 5 test points in the top middle of the board marked 3V#_BB, TDI, TMS, TCK, TDO U1 is an Atmel Mega32L
U4 is marked 8727GED 77ARR6X
U5 is marked 1010 A269 731
U6 is an RT9167A low dropout and low noise micropower regulator
U13 is an STA240AE Channel & Source Decoder
U14 is a Spansion AL016D70BF102 which may be in the S71AL016D family
U15 is marked 0732PPR V54C3128804VBJ7IPC
U16 is an Atmel AT8UA1068. It has the Sirius dog logo so it is probably a custom chip.
U23 is an STA210 RF Front-End
The LCD is a Varitronix COG-IZT2202-01. COG means "chip on glass". It has a 20 pin connector. The first line has smaller pixels than the last two lines. Each of the three lines are made of 16 5x7 pixel characters.
In addition to the LEDs in the LCD display, there are ten amber surface mount LEDs to light the buttons.
I sure hope the audio quality on the pay channels is LOTS better than the quality of channel 184 as it is FAR from hi fidelity sound.
Did Riley tell you how to board the Biaviian mothership too?
he has to buy a symbol first. hope you all listened to my show last night on your free radios robertsotx, did you see any way to adjust the useless weak fm transmitter's power or maybe stick a better antenna in it?FM has become very usefull to me. My sirius has some high pitch noise at the AUX, which doesn't show up at FM. Get this The FIX it should do the trick. There is also a Crutchfield, free shipping, Visa card code floating around here somewhere. |

I ordered mine yesterday, hope it goes through. I am planning on doing the install myself on my 2008 Ford Focus. My Focus already has the roof antenna, does anyone know if the antenna cable is preinstalled in my car? I didn't want to pay the extra $400 for the Sirius equipped radio when I ordered my car, but I am hoping the antenna and cable are preinstalled at the factory and it will be a simpler job for me. |

Just an FYI for you guys that also jumped on the $5 sirius package from Circuit City, the remote and the antenna from that package both work on the stratus 4. I installed my sirius receiver near the passenger window for better visibility and the remote came in handy. I also think the antenna looks better than the huge one that came with the stratus 4 |

Called to activate and the Rep would not budge for activation fee. I even flat out told him that all I wanted to do was try it and that I have no obligation because I didn't pay for the radio. He offered a 1 year contract w/ 1 month free and no activation. I told him again that I just wanted to 'try it' and he says only option is to use my $30 card for activation and 1 month. He also wanted CC#. Oh well, still I got 1 month free with free radio. If I don't like it, I'll just cancel it. |

I called 4 times trying to get some kind of perk. I gave all kinds of BS excuses (referral, just want to try out the service, other rep told me to ask, etc.) and got shot down every time. Pretty much all of them told me I got to contract up 1 year/1 month free, or 2 years/4 months free. One more shot, perhaps with an "evening" CSR. Then I give up. |

Ordered it last week and still no email/box/anything. Just got off the phone w/ store customer service and they said "this link was posted illegally on a website and some people ordered like 30 of these, so corporate stopped shipping this deal". Also told me there is a 99% chance my order will never ship. I don't think so, I ordered two on Wednesday (the same day they told you this) and got a shipping confirmation today. |

I got my Radio yesterday Installed it and called to activated and the rep had no problems taking the activation fee off. I told him that I called couple of weeks ago to inquire about their services and I was told if I call back and activate a radio they would waive it, he even asked me for the rep name who I spoke to so I just made up a name. got signed up for the quarterly plan for $38. |

I tried for over an hour last night, I was quite dissapointed to get another overseas call center. no budge on the activation fee.I gave up after repeating all my info for the third time. The csr told me to call back today and everything would be done. Well I called back today and to my surprise nothing was done so another hour again today and its finally activated. I have to admit I wish I would have skipped this deal not worth trouble for a free month of service. Congrats to all who got a trouble free activation. Sirius is off my list of companys I will deal with in the future. |

Yeah the month to month activation is definitely a pita. I didn't even bother to ask for any fee waiving and it took over an hour of holding and waiting for the guy to do his stuff. |
