When you get to the payment page there are 3 options.
Choose how you would like to pay
Every month - $2.95
Every 3 months - $5.90 includes 1 month free
Every 12 months - $23.60 includes 4 months free - that is $1.97 a month

In for one year. We get very poor cell phone reception where we live so this is perfect.

I used Skype for all my outgoing long distance calls for about a year and a half. I had a year of unlimited domestic for $14.95. Then when that ran out they had the mandatory Skype Pro. They didn't offer subscriptions any more. I guess they couldn't force enough people so subscriptions are back and Skype Pro is no longer.

I currently use Grand Central but don't know what Google is going to do with it yet.

If you want to get the most out of Skype get a nice adapter so you can use your house phones. This the newest I have found and the features are great.
Skype adapter at Buy.ocm

This is the main feature of this adapter

The DPH-50U can be configured to forward incoming Skype calls to another destination such as your cell phone so that you never miss a call while you are away. The DPH-50U also includes a toll bypass feature that is ideal for the following two scenarios:

The first scenario is when you are in the same geographical area as the DPH-50U and want to make an international call. You can call from your cell phone to the computer that the DPH-50U is connected to and make a low cost SkypeOut3 international call

so this is better deal than magic jack?

How so? I figured the other "providers" that cost less are just buying the unused scraps of time slots that the bigger voip companies purchase.

ie Skype buys block of bazillion 500 minutes

magicjack buys 500 minutes for super cheap since they wont meet that need

etc.

This is pretty good deal. I too was miffed about the renewal this year after last years Skype unlimited and just started using a cell. I might go back to Skype based on this price.

In NC, ATT jacked up instate LD to usury levels so it's either cell phone or Skype for in state calls. Thanks for bringing this up OP.

Hello:

Can someone be so kind to explain how people are using these phone services. I currently use Quantum Voice (VOIP) when Sunrocket took a dump. I pay $20 a month. Will this be the same thing as a VOIP however, with no e911? I am also assuming most people that use this service are using their cell phones more than their land lines? How are people using Grand Central? Just trying to see if this will work for me. Thank you.

I looked on the Skype page, but I am still not certain, so I will pose the question here: Does this include calls made from outside of North America to numbers incide of North America?

And incidently, how is this billed? An upfront payment of some sort, or literally $2.95 each month?

Thanx.

I, too would like to know, does this include calls made from outside the U.S. to numbers inside the U.S.? I have Skype pro but I still get charged a 4 cent connection fee plus 2 cents per minute when I call the U.S. from many south america countries. Skype is not clear on this.

"

What is this? Means you need pay more ( with a $30 discount) to buy a number to be called in, in addition to 2.95/month?

When I renewed back in February, I had the option of paying monthly, 5 months, or 12 months.
I paid $15 for 5 months of service (unlimited within the US) then. Still good for us, based on our LD useage, comes out to about 1/2-cents a minute. Best we could do on LD on our landline was 3.9-cents/minute.

At that time I got about $5 of International minutes.
These can be use calling from US to International, and International to US.

If you want an number for people to call (Skype-IN), it is an additional cost.

I have been using This PHONE Linksys CIT200 for 1.5 years now. If you have a router, and leave your computer on 24/7, it works great. If you have a router, but don't leave your computer on, then the CIT-400 is a good bet.
I say the Cit-200 refurbished somewhere recently for $30?

Too bad that Skype does not support caller id in the US.
