its not disabling, its more like overriding the printer from stop printing when toner is low.

Steps:
1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System setup and press (SELECT).
2. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Print quality and press (SELECT).
3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press (SELECT).
4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override out and press (SELECT).
5. Press (SELECT).

bippie said:Has anyone verified that the toner cartridges that come with this printer have the same printing capacity as a new cartridge? Sometimes printer manufacturers ship printers with starter cartridges that have a smaller amount of toner. Just wanted to confirm this isn't a problem before buying one of these. Thanks....

Staples had this similar deal few months back, people at SD had the printer delievered with new toner. calls to HP and website confirmed it will come with full 2000 page toner.

That was easy. Keep the shell for the next HP laser printer recycling deal (usually about $100 rebate check).

My store receipt shows:

coupon 1: 18361 $-50.00 (printer trade-in)
coupon 2: 69926 $-15.00 (instant 15)

The system will not accept the $20 off 100 coupon in the same transaction. You will need to pay with credit card (not debit card) and call Customer Service 800-3STAPLES to get it applied. But it SHOULD ACCEPT the other 2 coupons with no problem. Anything else they tell you is a lie. Have the guy key in the coupon number and it should take.

also, to clarify rules specifically say save 50$ on any printer priced REGULARLY $159 and above. This means the pre-discount price of $164.99 on this printer QUALIFIES.

The only thing they can get you on is that it isn't valid for refurbished printers. Hopefully the manager does not catch this.

My adventure, the $15 "instant savings" is in the form of an "instant coupon". The computer was kicking back any combination of coupons including the trade-in and a 30 off 150 (yes I had something else added with the printer to kick the price above $150). The store manager agreed to do the $149 (164-15) as listed on the website without any difficulty. He also applied the $50 recycling printer coupon, again, without trouble. Unfortunately, I couldn't get any additional coupons to fly. I decided that at ~$105, the toners alone were well worth it and decided to buy. When the unit arrives, I might even take the paper weight back and do this again.

Good luck to all that make a run at it. The toners alone are going for around $200 on flea bay (oem packaged just as these will be). Won't sell (they will be put to good use) but this just speaks to this as a great deal!

Hmmmm - the cashier has been there for eons and is super nice, and the manager was new - but nice. I saw the cashier scan the $15 one, then the $50 one (which was rejected at the POS terminal) - then she tried the $50 only. It look that. Then added the $15 and thpt! I'd think they might be pulling a fast one on me if I didn't see the errors come up myself.

Dang I'd be happy at the $99 point with trade-in. The manager suggested the basic HP $99 laser (at $49 after trade coupon) since there wasn't a instant savings coupon to mess up the works and it qualified since it's regular price was high enough. Next nearest Staples is a city away, and I'd go there if I knew they would make the deal fly somehow.

How does it work? Do I go to counter first with tradein printer or go straight to kiosk to order the printer?

Never done even kisok order before.

just go to Staples store and you will big sign in the front door (and inside poster) mentioning HP trade in program; ask for clerk to help you and tell her/him your trading your printer and want it applied to an online order. it wont hurt if you go in and just talk to the sales people, most are nice.

YMMV with the trade as some managers might shoot you down becuase its not suppose to work with refurbs, but if they dont you scored one! bring your printer with you, if it goes through you get $50 off instantly and they take your junk printer.

more info can be found here at staples and here at hp.

the main thing is to get them to apply the $50 trade in for you and the $15 instant; if they say no go on the $20 cash off from the email, just purchase and call to have it applied after the sale.

I called Staples twice just now. I did get the $50 trade-in and $15 instant in store. Both phone CSRs said I would have to go back to the store to get the extra $20 off. Is there anything special I must say on the phone to get them to apply the $20 (HP $20 off $100 HP products email coupon)??

I had the same experience yesterday: both CSRs said that I would need to return to the store to have the $20 coupon applied.

What worked for me was to call after 2:00am eastern (earlier may have worked). The CSR I spoke to said that the people that would need to adjust for the coupon were gone for the day. He took down my order # and the coupon # and said that he would send an internal email to get it applied. Sure enough I got a confirmation email this morning that $21.20 (with tax) was credited back to my credit card.

No guarantees, but it's worth a shot if the regular CSRs have been shooting you down on the $20 coupon.

Pretty sweet deal for $80 plus tax! Thanks OP!

I just got one..thanks!

The Coupon gets sent in an email. Mine came immediately. Paid for my printer last night at the store. Total price including tax -- less than $86.00! Sweet!

the toner carts are full not starter, 2 delivered today.

edited to correct verbage

Ordered online using $15 off (instant) and $20 off (signed up and got email).

CSR called today and said I had 3 choices:
1. remove $20 off
2. remove $15 off
3. cancel order

She was very nice, just said you can't combine discount offers and the $15 off was considered a discount offer. I chose to remove the $15 off.

so you didn't buy the 2600? - you don't have to buy a printer to get the $50 coupon for trade-in??

thekid72 said:HELP! (gee, now that I got your attention )

Went to my local Staples this morning first thing. No problem ordering the printer, but the store would only accept ONE coupon - I had my choice of...

$15 off instant coupon to bring it down to $149.98
$20 HP/Staples coupon
$50 trade-in on the cheap unused HP printer I bought just for the ink.

The register would not accept anything beyond the first coupon (even the $15 has a UPC they have to scan)

I am sure I am not alone here - what's the workaround? BTW I did leave the toss-away HP D1415 printer there (less ink of course), so I do have a $50 coupon.

alert mods

I didn't buy because the cheapest price I could pay was $115 after trade. They would not take the $15 instant coupon off *and* the $50 trade in. I did leave the store with a $50 coupon as I let them keep the trade-in printer.

Sounds like a good time to call CS for some help.

Well I tried last night via the night crew, and all seemed well on the phone. I got the speech about sending a request to the right group yada yada... Then I get the following this AM:

Good morning, Indycanard:

I have researched your request to apply your coupon XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX to your recent prepaid order
#XXXXXXXXXXXX.

I am unable to apply this coupon to your order as payment for this order was received by the store.
You will need to bring your coupon and your store receipt to your local Staples in order to receive
credit for this coupon, upon verification that your purchase meets the coupon's requirements.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, Indy. Please contact us if we can be of
further assistance.

I guess I will try again in store this am.

Mine got delivered yesterday. So far this has been fantastic print quality for the price. I wasn't holding alot of hope on those that say the picture quality lacks. But as far as the simple day to day printing it does very good in my book. It is a monster though its huge. Those on the fence, "Get out there & get one". You won't be disappointed! Thanks OP for posting the deal! I did trade in a old crappy printer. They applied the $50.00 off and the instant $15.00, but didn't try to push the coupon as well. Didn't want to jeopardize my deal. But I'm happy having shelled out $105. for this thing. Just wish the hubby wouldn't mind getting another just for the extra toner.

a lot of you are getting this printer just for the toners. i know it's always better to use genuine HP toners, but has anyone tried out third party oem toners and found anything reliable? i can find a lot of oem toners out there that are much cheaper, but not sure which one is reliable. if anyone has any experience with reliable oem toners for this printer, please share. i was thinking about going out to get this printer from Staples also just for the toners, but don't have any spare printers to trade in. plus i don't really print too much colors, so i much rather just replace the color toners one at a time down the road. if anyone knows of a reliable oem brand for replacement toners, please share. it would really save us some hassle of looking out for all these printer deals just to get the toners.
