YMMV i guess. I dont think most managers will catch it as they would get stuck on the pricing (this printer is priced above the minimum price) or the online purchase-ability after trading in an old printer (rules say yes) first.
Great Printer...I have bought 3 of them. Not because they break...for the toner. Cheaper, a lot cheaper to buy the refurb with full cartriddges. Also, you can change the setting so that the "chip" counter is disregarded/overridden....Basically allows the printer to keep printing after the "chip" says it is on empty!! Just like the old days!!
In for 4 (need the toner) and I am ridding myself of the Printer Husks in the backyard on a bed of burning tires, the funny thing is I don't even use color, Haha good thing I have a Hummer otherwise getting all those boxes home from Staples would have been a bear!

Does anyone here mess with toner refills? I have never done it but see all sorts of deals on the color toner on eBay? I print tons of color and use phasers but even buying generic ink gets pricey

In for at least one. Ordered a quick one off the internet, and will try to recycle my Laserjet 2p for another one (i.e. toner) in store.
These printers are awesome! I almost bought one from Costco yesterday ($249). Glad I waited. As to picture quality - eh, it is not that bad. It is not a photo printer, but it is still pretty good.

Wow, the toner for this printer is very expensive - at least a lot more expensive than what I'm used to with my crappy Canon Pixma inkjet (which is now dying).
Even though the printer itself is a great deal, wouldnt the price of toner negate that discount?
Sorry if I'm missing something here... but would love to understand what makes this deal so hot in the longrun before I purchase one for myself.

Well...I bought one for about $135 (after $15 and $30off$150 coupon - from fleabay). If the carts get 2,000 pages (which is what they're rated for)...that's only 6.75 cents/page for color printing. Order 2 of them and sell the 2nd one (without carts) on fleabay. Then you'll be good for at least 4,000 pages. BTW...I don't have a local store near me...to take advantage of the other $50 deal.

This is laser printer, so the toner would last much much longer than your inkjet tubes. If you want to compare, do price per sheet comparison.

dont worry...usually the status will change to "Available" later of the day...and you should receive it tomorrow.

the more printers you buy, the cheaper it will get. after $50 trade in and $20 coupon instore, you end up getting 4 toner carts for the price of one, PLUS you can eBay the extra printers, which makes the toner free.

the 2600n stops printing when toner is low. you can override that and make it stop printing when the toner is out, instead of low.
Steps: 1. From the main menu, press (RIGHT ARROW) to System setup and press (SELECT). 2. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Print quality and press (SELECT). 3. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Replace supplies and press (SELECT). 4. Press (RIGHT ARROW) to Override out and press (SELECT). 5. Press (SELECT).
I've never done the printer trade in thing. Do I just take my old printer to my local Staples and they give me a $50 coupon? then I use that coupon code when ordering online?

Generally you buy at the kiosk and when you pay at the register you give them the printer and they knock off $50. Any coupons you used at the kiosk will have to be scanned at the register which makes this very ymmv as the same person is going to have to give you the 20 and 50 off. Plus this printer is less than the minimum requirement on the 50 coupon deal so they don't really have to give you anything.
Went to my local Staples this morning first thing. No problem ordering the printer, but the store would only accept ONE coupon - I had my choice of...
$15 off instant coupon to bring it down to $149.98 $20 HP/Staples coupon $50 trade-in on the cheap unused HP printer I bought just for the ink.
The register would not accept anything beyond the first coupon (even the $15 has a UPC they have to scan)
I am sure I am not alone here - what's the workaround? BTW I did leave the toss-away HP D1415 printer there (less ink of course), so I do have a $50 coupon.
Has anyone verified that the toner cartridges that come with this printer have the same printing capacity as a new cartridge? Sometimes printer manufacturers ship printers with starter cartridges that have a smaller amount of toner. Just wanted to confirm this isn't a problem before buying one of these. Thanks....
