Unfortunately it is located in the worst desirable place to live on earth. Just 3 months of warm days. All year along lots of snow and dull sky.

I guess you've never been to Detroit...ok it isn't far from there but still...there are far worse places.

Some years ago I moved from Los Angeles to Michigan and went to Cedar Point expecting some dumpy, third rate park. I was blown away. They have the best collection of roller coasters in the world. The park may have other areas to improve on, but you can't beat their coasters.

The hardest I have ever seen it rain was for three minutes on July at CP. It rained so hard you literally could not see the buildings across the street, 50 feet away, with any clarity. Five minutes later, the sun was out.

cedar point ROCKS

Took a road trip to Cedar point last year. Having been to all the other big Disney parks and several Six Flags, including Texas, I was blown away. All roller coasters, all the time. It was a great day. I rode that street racing one about 10 times. There's no better way to spend 17 seconds of your life.

The blue streak. And yes it rocks. I almost fell out of it. (pre seat belt days) I was 90 lbs. and stupid. Left the bar up.

Because he said 17 seconds, I think he's talking about the Top Thrill Dragster, which is effin amazing. The new Maverick is pretty sweet, too, it's a much better ride than it looks walking by. Not really worth the three hour wait on most days during it's first season, though.

I've lived in Michigan my entire life, and we make the trip to Cedar Point once a year. You just can't beat the coasters there (personally, I like high-fiving the other cars on the Gemini .

This will save my group a bunch, thanks OP!

Having grown up with Cedar Point ... I've found most other parks disappointing (I'm a coaster fanatic). Amazing how tame even the wildest Disney ride is compared to the CP coasters. My fave is still Millenium Force ... huge, sleek, and smooth ... great time.

I've spent my whole life living in Sandusky. It may not be the best place to live but it isn't terrible.

In side the park it is almost like living in the future. Most other parks have only one or two Top thrill coasters. But in here almost every one rocks.
Man that 400 feet drop in the Millennium force.
That was the very first ride my spouce went without knowing what a roller coaster is.
She is a kind that would not ride a 10 feet coaster.

There's nothing wrong with the place. Yes, region is economically depressed..but that doesn't mean "worst desirable place to live on earth." The Local Folks are friendly and very family oriented. And yes, your will see some country side around and natural green too. I would say ..its nice & calm place...away from craziness of cities/metros.

I read "worst desirable place" and I didn't think they were referring to Sandusky. Overall, that's a pretty okay place. I think of OHIO in general that should be labeled as the most undesirable. I lived in Michigan the first 25 years of my life and dreaded crossing the border into that state. The only time I didn't let it bum me out was en route to the Point. Otherwise, family trips had to start out on a sour note of having to drive through it.

But Ohio bashing aside, Cedar Point really is the greatest park on the planet. And for those of you in the Midwest near a Meijer, they offer awesome discounts on the regular and weekend (2-day) rates at the customer service counter. 2 days, both parks (point and soak city), for like $65 is a steal.

Cedar Point is the best.

We live in NY, but with my In-Laws in NW Ohio, Cedar Point has become a regular, and joyful stop for my family.

We've been to many parks, and having children who not only love coasters, but wish the "Top Fuel Dragster" would go faster and higher, there's no better place than Cedar Point. They have many dozens of coasters and other rides at all levels, so your younger or more skittish riders can work their way up to the many big rides, which corkscrew through the park and beckon from all sides.

There's a certain amount of pride and trepidation watching my kids, including the 9 year old, fly down the dragster runway at 120 mph or flying earthward on the Millenium Force, while knowing there's no chance they'll ever see me do that too.

Thanks OP. Cedar Point is well worth he full price...any sayings is gravy!

I take it you don't go to Columbus much? I agree about Cleveland and Toledo (probably the only cities that you go through.) Columbus is top notch for restaurants, sports and concerts and quality pubic schools (Upper Arlington, Dublin etc.) Plus Columbus has 5 Fortune 500 companies all in White collar jobs (the same number as Seattle and Denver.) Yeah I agree that Ohio has some bad areas but it's almost universally acclaimed that Detroit is the poorest large city in the nation and Flint is poorer than many third world countries. You are obviously a Wolverine fan that wants to hate on OSU . Oh yeah and Cedar point is the best rollercoaster park in the world.
