[Check the FW Archives for the version number; if I had to guess, I'd say v33.]

If the current is too low, the charger may pass right through that point (the trigger was too small to be detected) and the cell may be overcharged.

I own the BC-900 and my father-in-law has the BC-700. Truthfully, I wish I had saved my cash and just bought the BC-700. I have a cheap quick charger if I just need to quickly charge a battery before heading out the door. Otherwise my BC-900 (which I use 99% of the time) I run at 500mah at all times. It works great. One of my Energizer 2500mah batteries only tested at 1095mah and after doing a refresh I was able to get 2340mah out of it (obviously your milage may vary). It also has fixed my problem in that I use Rayovac Hybrids for my Wii remotes and after some time of getting the pairs mixed up I wasn't able to get them fully changed (cheap chargers only change until 1 of the batteries is fully changed). This was causing a problem in that every time I put a "recharged" set into my remote, it would only show 2-3 bars. Now I have solid 4 bars every time since all batteries are being fully charged!

The La Cross BC-Family is the only way to go.

Oh as one other posted started, my bag, batteries, and battery sleeves are also just sitting in a drawer. I have never used them. I use low-discharge 90% of the time (other than my A570IS which is a battery hog and needs all the power I can give it).

.. and they're going fast!

Nabbed one at $26 on 6/18.

Got it last week and have been using it since. This thing is great! So far it brought 2 NiHms back to life - a Duracell 1600 and Panasonic 1900, both are now above their ratings, before they were so far gone they lasted about a week where before they were good for a month of service.

I used the 'refresh' mode, but from now on will just use the recharge mode. I left it at the 200 mA recharge setting. I have plenty of batts sitting around, so no need to use any charge setting above 200mA, so no need to have bouoght the 900 instead of the 700.

Very pleased with performance. If you use rechargeable batteries, put this on you 'must get' list.

I got this on 6/18, while they were in Lightning deal for $25.99 as posted, but before discount 32.99 When I saw they went to 29.99 a few hours ago, I decided to request a credit of $3 from Amazon, even though it was a month ago - but less than a month since delivery. Basically it you can return it, you can request a credit. Guess what, an hour ago they already approved the credit making it $22.99. I've said it, and say it again, Amazon customer service RULES.

I gave this a try, but I guess only the first person to request it gets the price credit before they catch on. Here's the response I got:
I'm sorry, but I can't honor the lower price for "La Crosse Technology BC700 Alpha Power Battery Charger" because when you purchased the item, you received $7.00 as part of the gold box promotion. As a result, your order isn't eligible for our Post-Order Price Guarantee.
Oh well. Didn't hurt to try.

[OPINION]

Unless the largest cell you plan to recharge is 1400mAh, SKIP THE BC-700!

Change my earlier statement of "...between 25 and 50%..." to "...between 50 and 100%...".
