If it hasn't been established already, this is definitely a reputable company.

Anyone got the camera?

jeffc said:I just activated my card. The csr said that if the card is used within 7 days, Discover takes $10 off the balance. I'm heading out to get my 10 bucks worth dag-gone-it-all.

This is not what I was told.

My CSR said that after spending $100 within the first 28 days I would be credited $10.

I am trying to decipher what the effect would be if I just pay the minimum balance on this card for a few months. If I understand correctly, the APR until the end of the billing period in December 2008 is 0%. However, apparently there would be a finance charge of $0.50 per billing period. So that seems to be the total cost of borrowing the money and carrying the balance from one period to the next (assuming that minimum payments are made on time).

Does that look correct? I'm wondering if there are some other costs that I haven't spotted.

Wife was told that ANY purchase within 7 days would get $10 credit.
Rep also went on and on with her about credit protection, 0% balance transfer, stores to get best CashBack etc., until she was ready to scream.

I called to activate,,, rep says Hi this is Matt, let me get this activated for you. OK, you are all set.. anything I can do for you? No, thanks and I hung up.

You won't even be charged the 50-cents. That is only if your finance charged figured on your outstanding balance at 10.99% is less than 50-cents, you will be charged 50-cents.
Until 12.31.08, you won't be charged anything, as long as you pay off your balance by your billing period ending 12/2008.

Thanks a lot.

Actually, they do not offer a $10 balance credit for spending $100 within first 28 days.

The exact offer is $10 rewards credit for the above purchases. But the minimum rewards check you can request is $20. So this offer is basically useless for those of us who just want the camera and plan on cancelling the card immediately afterwards!

looks like the new discover card deal is for a gps... i wanted the camera more than a gps so this one was better for me, but nice to know there are other deals.

Says that you can only apply for a Discover card once every 30 days.

I would assume that if these deals continue we could sign up for a new discover card every 30-days.
Discover CANCELS any previous Discover cards you have when you apply.

I got a letter saying my old discover card ending in 5505 is now cancelled
and the account close.

Thats $1500+ /annually selling the stuff every month.

Where do you get a GPS deal from? The camera still pops up on the OP's link to me.

My old card doesn't ending with the triple 5, so fingers crossed it won't get cancelled by the creditor.

Do you need to do anything other than activating the card and make a purchase?

Will they automatically send the camera to you or do you need to contact them (email/phone) telling that you have activated the card?

Thanks in advance.
