Gotta go check my mail and see if my $50 gift card has come. If it has this will be mine sooner than later, although the price will probably trend lower. I think Newegg had this for ~$256 recently.

This doesnt seem like the Blu-Ray burner. The Blu Ray burner is the GGW Model
I purchased the same drive from Newegg for $179 last week. Supermedia Store has it for $179 as well.

Wow, it's great to see these devices dropping in price. The burner was $400 just over a month ago.

Wow, this is a huge ripoff and I have no idea why this was posted. Sorry to be harsh, but this price is insane. Spend a dozen or so bucks more and get Blu-Ray burning capability too.

hasn't it been this price for several months?

FYI
The latest Cyberlink PowerDVD software does not support HD-DVD playback. Only Blu-ray playback (and DVD's, etc.).

The Blu-Ray burner/HD-DVD Player/DL DVD-RW etc. was $279.99 last I checked at Newegg

There is a well-known hack that easily restores HD-DVD playback to PDVD8 Ultra, but there is some concern that the hack will be disabled by Cyberlink.

What it comes down to is that Cyberlink are a bunch of greedy bastards who decided to cut costs by cutting the HD-DVD capability and thus the extremely nominal licensing fee for that format.
