This is a pretty sweet deal if nationwide. You get an extra $50 controller and $40 live membership for the same price as most places charge for just the console.

Wow, pretty sweet deal OP. What Costco location was this at? Do you have an item number?

OP, did the price end with .97, ie., $349.97? If so, that would indicate that it is being clearanced.

This has been the price at costco and sam's club for almost 2 years. I've worked at both locations. Might be a regional thing here in Utah but 349 has been the price at both locations for this package. One thing that seems to be added on is the 1 year to xbox live which is a great plus =) nice find OP!

Wish X BOX 360 could play DIVX over the network!! Great Price if you factor Extras............

Confirmed, I live in Naples FL and they have it as well. Great find OP.

...it can...you just need a media server be it townky or mce or vista ultimate. I watch divx on my xbox often. I use twonky.

I went and looked it up for you. Here are currently supported formats.

wmv-format, HD .wmv-videos, H.264, MPEG-4, PlaysForSure WMV videos, divx, xvid, MPEG-2 and container formats (WMV, MOV, TS)

I just wish it supported MKV. There's a ton of stuff in MKV containers now especially HD content.

Good deal OP for the added controller and 1 year live gold and the Costco warranty.

i have a few newb xbox360 questions.
Is this the version that has better cooling? or all 360 consoles still suffer from the cooling issues?

How easy is it to upgrade the harddrive?

this sounds like a good deal. I'll check my local costco and might pull the trigger.

1) I think most of the new 360s now have the Falcon chipset, which theoretically won't have the overheating issue that the older Zephyr chipset had. It's hard to say for sure since the Falcon hasn't been out for very long (I think since late October?). So far so good. Here's a good place to help you figure out whether it's Falcon or not.

2)Upgrading harddrive is very easy, though MS will charge you an arm and a leg for it because it's proprietary. I saw Sears had clearance on them a while back (you can probably find the forum concerning that somewhere on this site). Might be worth checking out to see if you can find one.

Pro Console + extra wireless controller + recharge kit for $399 in SF Bay Area. Definitely not as good a deal

Why can't Christmas be next week.

I might return my bundle, just so that I can get the HDMI cable.

Both Windows Media Player 11 and the later versions of WinAmp have good media servers that can interface with the 360 over the network and serve compatible media. Check out TVersity for MKV, it works like a charm for me but you may need a more powerful computer for some HD content. TVersity transcodes the video into a format the Xbox can handle so it will technically play everything your computer can once you get it set up.

edit: answered in title haha

id recommend windows media connect for streaming content to the 360 without messing with these other bloated options.

http://files.filefront.com/Windows+Media+Connect+20+English/;5479102;/fileinfo.html

im not sure microsoft even directly distributes this, as they now recommend 'zune' or WMP11, both of which require you to create a media library of your content, BLAH!
any uPnP server *should* work, i know XBMC team recently released support for streaming to xbox360 from an xbox running XBMC, cool stuff =]

back to topic of thread, this is an excellent deal, as you are likely going to be buying the extra controller and year of live anyway...

this is a no go in Costco in Union, NJ. Still $399.
