Actually Sony used to have a couple of 16.1" models a few years ago. That was before the 15.4" and WXGA came out so the aspect ratio was still 4:3

I'm looking for a replacement laptop with a decent top end that can do a bit more than just surf the web. Is this a decent desk top replacement?

I like the larger HD and RAM, but is it worth the money?

This has integrated graphics and a low res screen. I would not consider this a desktop replacement.

How do you use the coupon code?

16" replace a standard desktop 22"... I don't think so...

That 1366 x 768 resolution is pathetic. You'll have a lot of fun scrolling up and down just surfing the web. Its as if they designed these to be used for watching HD movies and forgot about the computing aspect of a computer.

Agreed. 1280x800 is the **bare minimum** (the 800 being the limiting factor.) And losing those 32 pixes north to south is a deal-breaker for me. I'd estimate that's about the size of the taskbar which always seems to get in the way when browsing in a 1280x800 screen.

I saw this notebook in store. The built quality is very high. Clearly this is designed to be an entertainment machine, cause the AV controls are on the left surface and touch sensitive. The design is really cool, and you must see this in person to appreciate. I believe this is an European design, as the Euro key is on the keyboard. I would say this is a very good price for this notebook.

hope my AMEX card's extended one yr warranty could cover this.
