Here is the google cache of the product in question, its the first one listed. Good luck finding one, they discontinued it April 13th 2008.

Hmm best buy across town still has them in stock, but they're on clearance for $39.99 instead of the OP price. Still a good deal though. Considering getting one.

well they're usually kinda cheap wood and it looks like there's a pretty big span on the platforms which might lead to bending. But there shoudl be very useful in a corner with the extra shelves or can double as TV stand if your Tv is light enough or you use your computer monitor as a TV. Can probably fit some home theater components on the footshelf or up above.

I stopped in at my BBY in Ohio and had them look up the sku since I could find no display or tag. Showed they had 1, and that it was not a display. When they manager saw the price, 7.99, he was like wow. Then he told another employee to go check on it and immediately left the area. I followed him and saw him talking into his headset, which is how he got the other employee to come assist in the search.

I watched the employee go in the back, then back out 2 minutes later. He said he couldn't find it anywhere... so I was like okay, knowing he is a lying fook. I hung around the store for a few minutes and saw the employee and manager hook back up and were discussing something... I think we all know what it was. Man I was pissed. Unfortunately, since those headsets connect almost every employee together, I felt I had no other option than accept their lie and miss out on this deal. Pisses me off as I have been considering 2 desks from Best Buy that I have to purchase at the end of this month. Would have been nice to save a 100 dollars.

Good luck nabbing this deal, and hopefully they have it out for you to find, because if an employee has to search for it and has the price, you are screwed.

Maybe I should have found somebody and told them just the name, but it's typical procedure to always verify inventory in the system before conducting a search, so I was probably screwed anyway since inventory shows the price.

I ended up travelling 2 hours roundtrip and going to 2 other best buys trying to find this deal, lol.

One had it, just 1, for 34.99.

The other showed in the computer they had 3, but they could not locate them. I waited for about an hour while they searched and are going to have the inventory manager call me back and see if they can get one for me somehow. So I feel they probably were not trying to hide the deal. Oh they had it for 17.99.

So it's definitely out there, just the stock on these things is messed up, and either they have gotten really lazy on inventory, or employees are grabbing this up as soon as they walk away from you and communicate through their headset.

Those headsets are the bane of a deal hunter!

BTW I drive a small focus and get 35 miles to the gallon, so I spent 3 hours, and about 10 dollars in fuel to get one of these deals. Not to bad a trade-off but I really should have scored 2 for it to have paid off.

Here is another worstbuy experience...

I checked the online inventory and my store showed these in stock, so i
drive down and find two beat up boxes (one was tagged open item at $69).
The shelf tag said $7.99 though.

I decided to take a chance on the beat-up'ness and load these in my cart
and go to checkout. The guy scans it and it rings up at $7.99, he stares
at the box and then the register, speaks something in his headset.
Then he asks me to wait and goes to find a super, telling me that the
price is too low.

The super comes out and asks me "how much are these ?", I say $7.99, go check your
tag. She then goes and does this and comes back with a not so happy face.
She allows the transaction to be rung up and i get an extra 10% i.e. $0.79 off
because one was open box

So, in the end i did get the item but i was made to feel like i was stealing from
them or something . Now i need to go check how many parts are missing/damaged
and see if the mfr. will send them over to me.

Thanks OP and TempusFugit for the store link.

That's when you should be asking for District Manager phone numbers. DM will investigate that SKU and see if it got sold that day and if so, that Manager and employee will hear about it and you should be getting a fat GC for it.

My local Best Buy had 4 in stock when I called. I asked about it when I got to the store and luckily they had 2 left. I only got one and as I was paying I overheard that all the rest had been bought by employees. They had them all stashed in the back. Great desk though. Using it right now.

Thats the reason.....we say....NEVER CALL...period. You got it, but ruined it for others.

I think the thing to do is call a store no where near you and have them check the stores near you fo stock...

most all of these awesome deals can be had BECAUSE employees don't know about it. The second you have somebody look up the information in the store, the second you have to worry about losing the deal. When you call, it's much worse. BBY always likes to make you wait and everybody is very busy... but the second an employee learns of a good deal, they suddenly have all the free time in the world to grab the deal and hide it.

FWIW check Office Depot for Studio RTA clearance items. I saw the corner tower - 3rd item in the cached page below - for $5.04 reduced from around $10. Didn't need it.

This was in East Palo Alto.

None in Metairie, LA but the guy did an inventory check and told me that there were three in Gretna (both NOLA suburbs). Bought one at Gretna but I'm pretty sure the employees snagged the other two once I left.

Put it together today- block off about an hour and a half, it's got a lot of small pieces. And man, it looks and feels incredibly cheap. But it was, so whatever.
