Last week I bought: Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote from Amaz0n for $219.44
I just went to Logitech's website to compare the Harmony One to the Harmony 1000 and they have the exact same things checked in every box.
The regular selling price for Harmony One is $249.99 The regular selling price for Harmony 1000 is $499.99
Is there a real difference between the two besides looks and ergonomics to justify such a huge difference in price? Logitech's comparison website showed no difference between the two.
Thanks for the post OP, I may return the Harmony One and get the 1000.....

The Harmony 1000 does support RF, which is probably worth $75-100 more to those who actually need RF - otherwise it's worth zero. (It also used to support Z-Wave automation over RF, but not anymore.) Other than that all Harmony remotes pretty much do the same thing, whether they have more or less buttons, have touchscreen or hard button, etc. That said, ergonomics IS a major feature for remotes; at least if you're a channel-surfer or a DVR jockey, you might be pressing buttons hundreds of times every evening and want something comfortable and convenient.
And on that front, I think many would argue that the Harmony 1000 has better looks but at the expense of ergonomics. I got in on the Harmony 1000 when Amazon had freak pricing of $180 once - but I didn't even open it and decided not to upgrade my Harmony 720 or 520. I MAY try to upgrade to the Harmony One at some point if a $150-175 deal comes along, as it is more like the 720, which I love.
I'm in for one. I own an 880 and I've been looking at the one for awhile, the touch screen is a great feature. However, I couldn't get the coupon code to work Corrected; I did get the coupon to work! It wont work on the credit card screen but if you goto the final "place order" page there is an "apply coupon" field on the right hand side of the screen and it took it!
Subtotal of Items: $343.31 Credit card sign up -$30.00 Promotion Applied -$20.00 ------ Rebate -100.00 Total for this Order: $193.31
OP, how did you find the rebate form for this Harmony remote? when I go to the product page for the 1000 remote on Amazon, I don't see any mention of a MIR on there. (although I am extremely exhausted at the moment so maybe I overlooked it)
No similar rebate for the Harmony 890? man, that's a bummer, as that's the one I want.

the 1000 only supports RF in that it's compatible with the RF extender. It does NOT work with z-wave devices. I found out the hard way...

I dont see any mention of it on the product page.
Just want to make its a legit rebate. $100 is to much to risk for me.
I placed a telephone call to Amazon to verify this rebate and they show no record of it in their system. The Kev Master thinks the people you want to be calling is the rebate company as he knows most of the people who work at Amazon are drones programmed to do what the computer tells them.

I have (2) 880's and (1) ONE and the ONE is honestly the biggest POS ever. Wouldnt recommend one to anyone. Range sucks (others have complained about this heavily). Feels to big in the hand (personal opinion).
The rebate was sent to me in an email from Amazon:

Ahh, ok, email-only offer, that explains it. Thanks for checking back in to let us know that OP, I appreciate it.
<side rant>"special email-only" offers should be illegal. if you're going to have it on sale for a price, SHOW that price...and sell it for that price to EVERYONE. ok, enough of my idealistic crusades...</side rant>
