I think their stocks will be gone before tomorrow.
I just got one on Fry's. There is "5 YR Warr.." on Fry's Lable. Does anyone know about how to get the warranty information about this harddisk?

A good place to start is with your serial # and Samsung's website. Pls do report back on the warranty period. I suspect you have to email tech support for the 5 year confirmation.
I was too lazy to drop by Fry's but I may have buy one now.

Fry's Sales ask me to by a Fry's 1/2/3 years warranty but I don't buy I just want manufacture warranty. But I can not find somewhere I can confirm manufacture warranty on Samsung's website
I find some information on Samsung's webside here:

My guess was right. Please email them and ask what is the warranty on your drive. If it ain't at least 2 years, I am skipping my trip (to Fry's).
AI finale, Cook and Syesha (sp?). Cook wins it. That kid really bothers me (with his singing).
Thanks, in for 1.
I was considering a Samsung as well. Can't find ANY warranty info on the site and the only method of contact for an RMA is an email form. I love Western Digital as you can check warranty status online and it will print out your mailing label right there.
Plus I am having trouble deciphering this sentence on their wensite:
"If there are addtional characters such as '/SCC' or whatever in the model number, it should be followded each buyer's warranty policy."
Followded? Whatever??
I tried calling their support line to see what support would be like. On hold 10 minutes to speak to a girl who would not answer any questions unless I gave them a phone number.
Sammy just lost a potential customer. And I need to buy 3 drives and recommend hardware to a few people who value my advice.
This all just verifies my concerns with Samsung customer service. We bought a microwave that, just days after warranty expired, smelled like it was catching fire. Burning insulation, minor smoke. They never responded, despite my offer to let them have it back to look at in case it was a design flaw. We were in the market for an HDTV and, despite lots of good reviews of their TVs at the time, I decided against buying any more of their products. The Consumer Product Safety Commission was not interested either, which I think was a mistake, but it was during Bush's watch, so that does not surprise me. To me, it was a design defect that could have burned our house down!
I never heard of Samsung making HDDs, but every time I have bought some oddball brand hard drive, it has died days after the warranty expired; one was on the 367th day of a 1-year warranty. This was a few years back, and I deserved it because it was such an off-the-wall brand from Fry's that I just knew there would be an issue; bad karma? However, my limited experience with Samsung was enough to give me the willies.
OTOH, most companies are OK until you have a problem. That is when the "fun" begins.
Same thing happens with weirdo stuff sold at Costco, but at least you have the famous Costco warranty to back you up if you do have an early end-of-life on an item.

You made a couple very big errors in your post:
1) bringing politics into an issue that is obviously unrelated is just stupid. How 'bout you go discuss it in the imaginary political forum that doesn't exist anymore.
2) Calling Samsung HDD an "oddball brand hard drive" is idiotic. I'm not sure where you've been the past 4 years or so, but they've consistently been rated the quietest and fastest standard hard drives for awhile now. I still have my old 160GB spinpoint running strong as my primary drive because it was rated #1 on quiet pc review forums.
3) Costco rules, you on the other hand do not
4) you have some ridiculously bad luck, and I recommend that you leave this forum before your bad karma rubs off on others.
Enjoy your western digital and leave in peace.

Good thing you dont use a computer because chances are you are using a samsung RAM (around 80%) or one of its subsidiary.
From Newegg reviews they all rate this drive better then WD or Seagate better noise, heat, and transfer rate. However there seems to be some trouble with nVida Chipsets so watchout
Bought one. I will see how this goes. My first Samsung HD. I hope it is not the last.
The 750 GB WD, IMO, is the best HD money can buy now. I would choose it over the 640 model. I really wish this was another WD 750.
