I heard this today on the radio. I just found it on their website:
PreMemorial Day KNX1070 Newsradio Free Gas Giveaway We feel your gas pain, Southern California! So just in time for the holiday weekend, we're giving away free gas... and lots of it (no lineups prior to 4:00 AM)!
aw! look beyond the long lines, it gets better!... picture the face of the dude standing there from 4:01:00am and just happens to miss the 9:00:00am cut off! - he would have spend ~30 mins navigating his way to the back of the queue in the wee hours of the morning, losing sleep, 3 hrs of inching his way to the front of the queue burning gallons of gas in the process, (in all ~5 hrs waiting) and then go home empty handed only to hear his other half say - "I told you so"
There are easier ways of making $40 than waking up at 3 and waiting in the line for several hours

They had that here in Vegas and showed it on the TV - hundreds of cars in line. The $35 saved was probably spent turning the car on and off for hours and on the wasted hours sitting there. Not worth it for me.
They did this around here also, the police shut the place down shortly after it started because of the traffic jam it caused. Reminded me of the gas shortage days from the 70s, electric cars people.

oops. wrong thread. Not a bad idea. Get a couple of box'o'joes from Dunkin Donuts, a few dozen 12 ounce disposable cups and you're all set. Set the price to $1.50 a cup and you'll be rich in no time
I got free gas courtesy of KROQ and Shell one time when I was in college. I skipped class to wait in line for an hour. Then I made them pump Super Unleaded in my '86 Tercel. I went for the free car wash too but my radio antenna was non-retractable so the big spinning brush nearly tore the antenna off.

Seriously, I have had several young women chat with me at a traffic light or parking lot when they see my electric Chevy S-10 pickup truck. Now if I was only 20 years younger...

Electric has nothing to do with it. Drop 100 large on one and I think you'll do okay. Now all we need is a serious FW deal on one.

If that was the price of an Elise, I'm so in!!! (1/2 of that btw)...nonetheless, if you're thirsty on the way to work, there are refreshments...I'm sure you don't have to wait for that.

Yup. I remember seeing people lined up in the 70's, for a few gallons of rationed gas. There were always a couple of cars that ran out while waiting in line. They were stuck there, while the others honked and went around them. Good Times!! I'll be watching the news on that day, to see how many fights break out.
