Thanks Hoosierdadi at sd for the heads up on this deal. As you may know Gamecrazy is owned by Hollywood Video and a lot of Hollywood Videos are shutting down. They are sending the unused Mario Kart wheels from their stores to Gamecrazy. I stopped by my local Gamecrazy yesterday in Garland,TX and picked up a 3 pack for $12.99.
These Wii wheels are new when they rented Mario Kart at Hollywood Video they never gave the renters the wheel to use. As noted in the title this is Brick and Mortar only and YMMV. The employee at the store was very surprised he had just received the shipments that morning, he had to go to the back to get them they were not on the shelf.

That is what I've heard from at least 5 people now.Yeah, my best times are with the nunchuck and wiimote and not the wheel, but it looks like some of the online tournaments are going to be "wheel only" events.
I agree with the others. You have more control when using the nunchuck and remote than with the wheel. That said I'm glad I have the wheels as my daughter and her friends like the wheel. And I use the wheel when I'm playing with my daughter as a (very slight) handicap.
So if you have a gamecrazy near you, this is a really good deal. I paid $10 a piece for my wheels.
But if your a hardcore gamer, save your money, you probably wont use the wheel more than once or twice.
The three-pack is sold out all over the east bay area, CA (sub-region of the SF Bay Area: Hayward, Castro Valley, Union City stores).
But the Gamecrazy in Hayward had "used" Wii wheels for just $4.99 each. They don't have retail packaging but are sealed in plastics bags and the CSR said they come directly from Nintendo. The three I got all looked pristine just like the one that come with the Mario Kart game.
$12.99 is hot, but $15 isn't bad either.
Edit: Also, after playing an hour with the wheel, I like it a lot. For a driving game, I'd rather not have the "extra control" if it means using the Wiimote and Nunchuk... I'll save that "stance" for Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Thanks OP
Got 2 at $4.99 each from Old Bridge, NJ (Rt. 9) store (inside hollywood video). There were still 4 or 5 in stock when I left. The store is located at a "crazy" shopping center though, not right on 9N but you have to take the 516 exit from 9 and it's parallel to 9. I had to make two U-turns so go slow.....
