Does any senior member see a problem with this deal. Looks good to me if the printer gets sold on fleabay?
Awaiting response...!

Decent deal IMHO, but come-on...drop the price by $59 and make it $999...I bet you'd sell more and make more profits that way.

Saagar...the deal is getting both the camera body and printer for $1058. As a sidebar, the author points out that if you don't want the printer then you could attempt to sell it and get some money back.

If the deal indicated you can get the Canon 40D for $700, then I would agree with you.

This is definitely a good deal.

Not a fan of Abe's of Maine, but they have been around a long time. That said, Abe's does show on the approved dealer list for this offer:
http://canon.rebatestatus.com/configurations/canon/storelist.aspx?ref=050408-080208

(see thread below for similar deal through a more reputable dealer: B&H Photo however they charge tax in NY)

Be sure to check the box your Canon camera comes in for *ALL* the accessories, battery, etc. Unfortunately, Canon does not seal their boxes, so it can be easily pilfered by dubious dealers.

Also, if you plan on fleabaying the printer, beware this thing weighs just over 35 lbs. so ground shipping will set you back roughly $40.

I took advantage of a previous Canon DSLR/printer rebate combo (Feb 15) and net the 40D body for about $750, see thread here.
This should be easier as you only have to fleabay the printer (I had to rid of the kit lens *and* printer) Took about 2 1/2 mos. to receive the two rebates.

Good luck!

The 'upcoming rebate' is already included in this deal (it is instant this time and $200 for the 40D)

Nice deal

another option especially if you dont like abes is from B&H

similar deal

40D (939.00) + Pixma 9000 (429.95) - $300 rebate = 1068.95 + S/H

I am gonna do this deal with the 40D and the Pixma Pro 9000 but waiting for the other authorized Canon dealers to reflect the $200 40D rebate in their prices. Should be able to get the 40D body for about $650 when all is said and done.

I did this with the 5D a few months ago, had no problem fleabaying the Pixma Pro9000 printer...it is big but only cost $29 to ship. Got my 5D body only for $1650 net.

One caveat: On the instant $200 rebate for the 40D, it states that it cannot be combined with any other promotion or offer. The argument is that the other promotion (the $300 rebate for the 40D/Pixma Pro 9000 combo) is on the printer, not the 40D...any thoughts?

I don't think there will be a problem. The $300 rebate just reauires camera's and printer's UPC and ONE receipt.

Well, get this. Just talked to Tri-State camera, they had the 40D for $1044.95 for the last month before the rebate. Talked to the guy on the phone there, asked if they were gonna reflect the rebate price...he said the price is now $1049.99 and that does reflect the rebate.

So in his world, the $200 instant rebate from Canon RAISED their price by $5.

As was suggested prior, time to wait for the greedy to actually pass the rebate along. Best price right now after rebate seems to be $939 ($949 from a dealer than can do the Pixma Pro 9000 deal combo).

Buying the 28-135 lens kit could make this an even better deal, although Abe's don't seem to be applying the $200 instant rebate. Some other sites are e.g. B&H. The lens kit typically costs an extra $190; can then keep the lens or sell it for ~300.

Beach Camera's price for the lens kit is $1,289 but no mention of the instant rebate. I emailed them to ask about the rebate and apparently they'll be applying it tomorrow. Of course they might raise their price at the same time.

As far as the validity of both rebates goes, Canoga Camera are showing them together so they clearly think there's no problem. Not that that should be taken as a guarantee.

what does "limit 1 rebate per purchase" mean? Does it mean that I can get multiple rebates as long as they're on separate orders?
