AD SCAN $100 Gift Card is confirmed to be used on anything, not just Blu Ray. New Sony CC user will get another $100 credit back to your account. HOT???
*** My plan is try to buy 4 PS3 @ WalMart, pay with any credit card. Wait a week later to buy the 80GB bundle and pay w/ the previous 4 GC + using the Sony CC, technically i'll get the 80gb for FREE. HOT???
it seems improbable to apply & receive the Sony CC in time for this sale..

They usually keep pretty good track of any promotions they have so I doubt it would work. (When I lost my receipt at WalMart for 80gig PS3 + 10 blurays deal, when they printed up a new one, the system still remembered that I got 10 free blurays).

but not impossible I used to bullseye womp rats in my T-16 back home. They're not much bigger than two meters...
Seriously though, the card takes 'two weeks' It's a week before the deal and the deal goes for a week. The card probably won't take the full two weeks.

you'd havet o apply by tomorrow morning though and hope you get instant approval, otherwise they wont process till tuesday.
sure why not, buy it june 1st,get gift card, take it back later with only the unit,no receipt, unopened, and just tell them you bought the wrong one yesterday,
can i exchange for the better one?.
they would probably be happy to get another 100$ out of you and you still get your gift card, who knows, maybe you can turn around and slide the gift card into the upgrade price and they wont notice.

I am going to give this a shot. I applied for the card and was approved this morning. I will update when I get it in the mail....
How will the Sony $100 work if you buy it at WalMart? According to the terms on the card, you seem have to buy something $299 or more at a Sony store or at SonyStyle.com.
"Sony Card is issued by Chase Bank USA, NA, and is subject to credit approval. Your first single sales receipt purchase made at a SonyStyle store, including SonyStyle.com equal or greater than $299 ("Qualifying Purchase") will automatically qualify you for a $100 Statement Credit. Statement Credit will be posted to your Sony Card Statement within 8-12 weeks from Qualifying Purchase. Offer available to new Sony Card accounts only and only one $100 Statement Credit may be earned per Sony Card account."

There are 2 offers available, 1 at Sony, and 1 at an authorized retailer. Check OP's link

I also had 2 new accounts with Citi (to the normal max of 4 plus 1 co-brand) recently. So I want to avoid the dreaded A/A was popping up recently.

the new ps3 coming in june with 80gb and dual shock controller and PS2 game compatible. this is a great price for this version!!!
Awesome deal, OP!!!
I have the current 80gb version, so what's so great about the PS3?? Nothing except that it can play blue-ray. There's more games for the xbox360 than PS3. Save yourself the money and just buy a 360.

I've actually been looking into getting a BD player, and this may be the deal for me. From my readings, the PS3 still appears to be the best BD player out there, b/c of its upgradability. I agree with you in terms of games, since I'm an X360 user myself, but for the BD alone, I'm thinking this might be a pretty good deal.
If anyone thinks otherwise, please let me know! I've actually been meaning to look into BD players starting June 1st, so this may be perfect timing.
by the way, the fine print on the Sony card states that a 100 dollar credit will post within 8 to 12 weeks of any purchase totalling 299 or above.
that makes things easier.

My Chase Sony card took about two weeks to receive in the mail, so it's possible.
No problem getting the $100 credit on my statement from Chase and no interest. This is pretty smokin hot.

If anyone is curious if you can apply for a 2nd Sony card, it is possible. I had a Sony card and had no issue getting another one last year when they offered $150 off the first purchase.

$399.00 (PlayStation 3 Price) - $100 (Blu-ray Gift Card) - $100 (Credit Back on Sony Card) = $199.00 ?Does anyone know?
I think you can only use the Gift Card for Blu-Ray DVDs only.

I think you can only use the Gift Card for Blu-Ray DVDs only. I think you may be wrong about that. It's not set in stone but form every indication it appears that the gift card can be used on anything. It has a blue ray logo on it but should be good for anything. A Wal Mart employee on one of the boards confirmed it. And as far as I know or anyone knows Wal Mart has never given out gift cards that could only be used on a ceratin product.
But we won't know until June 1st.

Wouldn't it be a better deal if you use the Citi card offer instead of the Sony card? Citi card gives you $150 gift card after your first purchase of $250 or more. That would make the deal $428(includes 7% tax) - $100 WalMart gift card - $150 Citibank gift card = $180.

To be honest, I forgot what link I had used to apply for the cc. I got approved the same day I applied (15th), but am yet to receive the cc. Anyhoo, I panicked when I read about chase trying to back out on the $100 deal. I did the best thing I could- I called them up.
I had read in some other fw thread about the agent asking for some sort of "code" to decide if you should get the credit. After scrutinizing the urls, I came accross the following. 1) if you apply through sonycard.com, in the url you see source code= B7RW 2) if you apply through the OP's link, the code in the url is = C100
This is what happened. I pretended that the call was to expedite the delivery of my cc, and to enquire about the time frame for the credit to appear on the statement. I make it seem that I KNEW I was getting the offer. In mid conversation, I also let him know (casually) that the offercode I saw on the application was c100. After putting me on hold for ~5 min, he came back and told me that the credit applies to ANY PURCHASE >299! He also let me know that the cc should be here by tomorrow
In summary I don't remember the link I used to apply for the cc. Calling them up is worth a shot IMHO.
PS: I bought the 80GB bundle on the 12th (wally $100 GC). I also called wally to make sure I can do a return-rebuy when I get my Sony cc. They said they'd do it anytime; I don't even have to lug the ps3 back into the store (they just require the receipt).
