Antec MX-1 eSATA enclosure at CC for 39.99 + tax Archived From: Hot Deals |
Amazon has it for same price.
I bought couple of these when there they had a rebate ($16 after rebate). I highly recommend these enclosures. If your motherboard supports it, you can even use these as a separate boot drives using the eSATA connection. If you have an open SATA port on your motherboard, use that with the bracket that comes with the enclosure and you will get much faster transfers than eSATA connection.

You must mean faster than usb connection.
On certain Motherboards the eSATA is controlled by a different chipset then the normal sata ports. There have been a lot of people including myself that have found their eSATA performance to be below its advertised capabilities due to poor controllers. running a SATA to eSATA bracket solves this problem as the original post suggests. This is of course YMMV due to motherboard / controller / chipset configuration. it is of course, faster than USB as well
I bought one not long ago. It is one of the best single drive eSATA enclosures on the market. It is very fast, of course faster than USB 2.0. I tried the USB 2.0 as well, the performance was really good too. Highly recommended.
HHmm , not a bad deal really . Too bad I just grabbed the Antec MX100 @ Frys for $10 , otherwise i'd be all over the MX-1 . I may still consider this though for abit more future proof e-sata goodness .
Thx ,OP(s) . ![]()
With the right wireless hook-up could this be made into a NAS??

Their are wireless routers (I believe apple has some) that have a usb port on them that can be used for plugging in a printer or a usb drive so that should work.
