Saw this in-store today at Culver City Costco. Don't know if it's mislabeled because I can't find any results when I Google it. I copied the label:

Pioneer PDP6510FD 50" 1080P Kuro Plasma HDTV $2599.99 (#259983)

edit: it's PDP5010FD 50" 1080P Kuro Plasma HDTV $2599.99 (#259983), not PDP6510FD

It has to be mis-labeled or you simply copied the label wrong? Th model number you provided would be for a 65" Kuro if one actually existed.
The only Pioneer Kuro Plasma showing in Costco's is the PDP-5010FD which is currently $2999.99 - $400 instant savings in-store or $2999.99 inline at Costco.com so i am guessing this is the one you are attempting to post?

Pioneer Kuro's are certainly top of the line. However, don't forget Pioneer has oficially announced they exiting plasma business.

(I cud be wrong, but) I think Pioneer has announced that they will stop making Plasma panels (due to high cost, low volume). They will now use Panansonic Plasma Panels. But they will still make plasma TVs. I think I read something like on a AVS Forum thread.

It's possible I mis-copied it but I checked it several times after writing it down; that's how come I'm thinking they mislabeled it. I also checked online and the PDP5010FD is #302685.

No that is correct. However the Pioneer name in terms of Pioneer famous "Elite" quality officially ends when Pioneer stops manufacturing their plasma sets. Pioneer has ALWAYS had a side OEM business where both Panasonic and Samsung provided OEM PDPs and Pioneer assembled in Korea (aka PDP-4304,PDP4214, etc....) vs in Japan where their pure core Pioneer branded plasmas are manufactured. Those "third party" outsourced sets are a POS and it looks like Pioneer would have learned its lesson. Probably the most infamous of these Pioneer outsourcing ventures was Pioneer PDP-4304 and the PDP-4214a special model built especially for Costco. It was so bad in both terms of build quality and picture quality that Costco forced Pioneer to pull all them from their B&Ms after customer started returning them to stores a few years ago.

The kuros are still the best tvs on the market. The new panasonics are getting pretty high ratings. They are only going with panasonic panels because their plant is so inefficient.

They are not "going with panasonic panels". Panasonic will be manufacturing Pioneer panels (to Pioneer specs). Pioneer will still be manufacturing the TV, only the actual screen itself will be outsourced to Panny.

Pioneer has not announced they are "exiting" the plasma business.

It's pretty easy to find this info on Pioneer's own site not to mention the Pioneer press release.

And who cares about any of this? TVs should be rated and reviewed based on a specific model. Plenty of manufacturers have some good and some bad (and some great) models. Kuros so far have been the best, and it will be seen if they continue to do so, but any other model that may come down the pipe...or the fact that Pioneer may cease to mftr. their own panels has no bearing on whether this set is great, or whether or not it's a deal. This TV should be judged on its own, as will any future Pioneer TV that has a Pioneer or Samsung or whatever panel in it in.

The last two posts above mine are the only ones anyone reading this thread should pay attention to, particularly the former as it has the most accurate factual info regarding the direction Pioneer is heading.

Just came back from Costco in Culver City. Everything on the label is the same except it now says PDP5010FD. They have 4 in boxes and one display, which is sitting next to a Sony 52" and a Visio.

Has anyone seen the Kuros in any Bay Area Costcos?

just so everyone knows, this is the 8G 1080P model, the 9Gs are coming out right now (the 60" 6020 is shipping now, the 50" 5020 is coming any day now. the 9Gs have 5x deeper blacks, so a lot of people are going that route. of course they are more expensive and the 5010 at that price is excellent. i just bought a 1150HD Elite (720P 8G model) otherwise i would jump on this costco deal.

check out AVS forums for more info if you want to read about this TV all day!

$2600 for a 50' 1080p plasma?
Is it a little bit too expensive? You can buy a Vizio 50' 1080p Plasma on $1400 from June 2rd at Costco....
I know it's good. Is it good enough to almost double price??...

To each his/her own. I'm not comparing the Pioneer to the Vizio. I'm just comparing the Costco price to what's out there.

I read on AVS (before they deleted the thread) that they will also have the 6010FD for ~3500. The item # listed on AVS is 606010 which Costco said wasnt avaialable yet when I called.

I've never seen these in my local store (Kirkland, WA) but still a great price for B&M especially given that it's Costco. If you're willing to buy this kind of a major purchase online, it can be had for ~$200 cheaper and no tax, but I think I'd prefer going this route and consider the extra expense worth the peace of mind Thanks!

Sorry to disappoint, but the 60" Pioneer Kuro 6010 is no longer in the system at Costco. Looks like they can only procure the 50" at this time.

No Pioneer at Cypress Costo.

And, did you REALLY mention Vizio in the same sentence as a Kuro??? I can't believe someone is comparing at Vizio to a Kuro.
You have to determine if a set is worth it to you, but please don't compare these two. Someone who's buying a Kia is not going to be comparing it to a BMW. They each serve a different price point, but no one would compare them against each other.
And I owned a Vizio for a couple years... then it died.
