The first time I activated online, it told me something was wrong and have me punched in a bunch of codes, although it seemed to have activated the phone, it only gave me 10 minutes, and I was not able to use the phone. After I got the new sim card, I tried activating it online, but got a "unregistered sim" message, so I have to call them to get the phone to work.

My case for my Tracfone needed to be replaced, so I checked a few place, and I really did not want to spend ~$20 for a case.
Dollar General in Sundays national newspaper ad listed a Tracfone Samsung T105G/LG100K Bundle that included a case. The ad as I understood it said you got the bundle regularly $10 for only $5 with the purchase of any Tracfone Airtime card. So, I went to Dollar General, planning to buy an airtime card and a phone bundle. When I checked out, the phone bundle rang up for $5! So, I did not buy the airtime card, because I did not have to, and I will not need it before late 2011.
The deal is a phone (I got a Samsung T105G) with Double Minutes for Life, a phone case, a handsfree headset, a car charger, and a wall charger all for the princely sum of $5.00 (plus sales tax)! The limit is 2 phones per customer. This should make a good stocking stuffer for many people.
Also, the register receipt had a couple of coupons printed on it. One that gives $5 off a $25 purchase ONLY on Saturday Nov 20 (not good on airtime, but should be ok for a couple more phones.) The other coupon is for $5 off a Net 10 LG320G or LG300 phone that expires on Nov 27.
This deal is back. It now includes all the above, but the LG phone is the LG100C.
The ad still says "Buy any Tracfone airtime card and receive 50% off the bonus pack! Reg price $10."
However, when I checked out, they still did not require the purchase of an airtime card.
The $5 off a $25 purchase is now valid only on Saturday, February 19th only! (NOT VALID with any other coupons or offers, for purchases of phone cards, prepaid phone handsets, gift cards, prepaid Visa cards, or alcoholic beverages...)
THEY DID HOWEVER, CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL 2% "E911 FEE". I have not seen that one before, and it just makes the VA Canteen purchases an even better option.

too bad my local BigLots don't sell $6 refur'd TF anymore.
Your town have a Thrift Store or the like? Four people in your family brings in two phones in any condition. You then come back at any time in the future with all 8 GC (worth $200) and buy whatever you want at a $200 discount. Larger family or more friends and the amount of the discount goes up by $50 per person.
I sign up for text promotion with a local restaurant. Today, they sent out a text and it shows up on my LG 290c as: Premium Messaging to this mobile number has been blocked. Only the account owner may request a change to this setting with his/her wireless service provider.

Is this from the sender or Tracfone?
I believe it is Tracfone. Check this out from their T&C:
Please note that TracFone Wireless does not generally participate in Premium SMS services or campaigns. Premium SMS refers to activities that usually involve sending a text message to a designated "short code" or buying or attempting to buy SMS services from anyone other than TracFone Wireless. Premium SMS campaigns include activities such as casting a vote, expressing your opinion, playing a game, subscribing to a service, or interactive television programs. You should not attempt to participate in Premium SMS campaigns, unless it is a TracFone Wireless authorized campaign. Any text message you send to a "short code" will in all likelihood not go through. Any charges you may incur as a result of any attempts to participate in Premium PSMS services or campaigns (not authorized by TracFone Wireless), whether you incur charges as deductions from your TRACFONE handset or from your credit card, are not refundable. Thanks. When I sign up, I have no problem receiving their confirmation text. Today was the first time they sent out a promotion text and got blocked.
I have a tracfone Motorola W260 that I have had for about two years. The hinge on the flip broke and the plastic strip with the wires etched into it ( one the left side of the hinge) ripped, so the display/top half of the phone doesn't work but it still rings etc when shut. It has a lot of minutes and service time on it. I also have another tracfone Motorola W260 which was once active but is currenly inactive (since Aug 2010). I am trying to be able to use my minutes and service time, and voice mail for the old number, doesn't matter which phone but the plastic strip thing looked tricky to repair so I figured it would be easier to transfer to the inactive phone.
I called customer service (cause when I tried to login to the account I set up online the page wouldn't load); they said they could transfer the number. They asked for the serial number and gave me some codes, then said the system would have to assign me a completely new phone number (neither the number from the broken phone or the old number on the inactive phone) and it would take up to an hour then turn the phone off then on to check. I did that and the phone came up with the new service days and minutes but after a few seconds switched to a message that said Unregistered sim 01/04/07. The phone also shows no service bars in an area where I have always gotten full bars with the other phone. Called cs back, they said that their system hadn't assigned a phone number yet, re-did transfer proccess, same result. Tried to reactivate phone on it's own (by buying a new minute card, calling cs, cancelling the reactivate-by-transfer attempt, tried simple reactivation). They gave me some more codes; same result -- new minutes and service time showed up but Unregistered sim 01/04/07 message and showing no bars. Called cs back, talked to supervisor then manager, who again tried to transfer from old phone to reactivate. She said she was able to reset(?) the sim but was just waiting on their system to assign me a number and it shouldn't take longer than an hour. An hour later, the system still hadn't assigned me a number, manager assured me that despite the "Unregistered sim" message, there was no problem with the sim, or any other problem, they are just waiting for the system to assign me a number, and I just need to wait. That was last night, and this morning still the same message on my phone. Somehow I get the feeling there IS a problem somewhere, they just don;t know what it is.
Spent about 4 hours on this, and 3+ on phone with customer service. One customer service guy said the sim wouldn't work for that area code which doesn;t seem right because it was the same area code it was activated for before. This got me thinking maybe it had something to do with the service area and not being able to connect to the network as to why it wouldn;t work, but I checked T-Mobile coverage for my area and it has excellent coverage.
Cs was very polite but even their supervisors and managers didn't seem to really understand how it all worked so it was hard for them to help me.
Hopefully you or someone here knows the technical part better and can help!
(Or if the plastic strip wire thing can be fixed with a trip to the local Radio Shack, maybe that would be simpler . Any ideas?)
If the SIM has been used before and the phone number has changed, then they need to send you a new SIM. I don't know why they gave you a new phone number instead of transferring your existing number, but you would still need a new SIM if the one in the good phone was used before. The phone will not activate with a new number and a used SIM.
LG 900G for $5.00 on Net10 website Net10 has it bundled (phone+unlimited card+$20 gift card) for $79.99. Deduct the value of the gift card +unlimited card +$5 discount using either 44477 or GI2011 and the cost of the phone by itself is $4.99. Shipped free, but your local tax is added. Phone appears to be new, not refurbed. Bundle is at lower left.
FYI: TF Samsung T105G bundle (DMFL + case + headset + car charger) $10 ($9.xx) still available at W*M (B&M/.com) & Target (B&M/OOS: .com).
TF Samsung T155G bundle (DMFL + case + headset + car charger [GSM4]) $15 ($14.xx) at W*M B&M (not listed @ .com) (FYI: box looks more like T105G bundle rather than this one)
Update (3/24): Confirmed availabilty of TF Samsung T155G @ W*M B&M. Re-worded my post to reflect current info.
Update (3/19): Confirmed availability at Target B&M. (updated wording from 'possibly')

There's also a TF bundle $15 ($14.xx) at W*M B&M (not listed @ .com), but I currently do not have details. (IIRC -- Samsung T155G (e.g.); I will update this post after my next W*M B&M visit)
I have, so far, purchased 3 of these T105G bundles from Dollar General. At DG, the standard price is $10. They have had at least 2 different sales for a week each, wherein the price was cut to $5. Both times the ad stated that you needed to purchase a 60 minute card to get the $5 price, but they did NOT ask me to purchase the time cards, so I did not. I guess the clerks were supposed to know about, and enforce the additional purchase requirement, but they did not, and their computer system was equally clueless. YMMV
You are still better off buying a $19.99 bundle thru Tracfone; better refurbished DMFL phone + 60 minute airtime + free shipping for $19.99 less $5 (code GI2011) -$2.25 Fatwallet 15% CashBack = $12.75.

foche911 said: How to make sure Tracfone is AT&T? Is certain zip code? T-Mobile is poor here, but that is what Tracfone will send normally....
Anyways, since foche911 should already know the answer, in case anyone else has the same question:
Try RTFM? (i.e.: OP/QS) [standard procedure]
Try finding market info for your area? (e.g.: COGSM5, GSM5AT)
Try confirming coverage map which carrier is best for your market? [also in OP]
Try text search this thread for 'zip' for multiple examples of replies to post just like yours from the past?
(hint: use real zip to find market; verify best carrier for your market, find zip code for best carrier for the market, use best carrier zip code to select phone, change to actual shipping zip to order phone, use coupon code (if available))
Here in Southeast Texas I used to think Wal-Mart always had GSM4 and Dollar General/Family Dollar always had GSM5. However, that is no longer the case. Recently I've seen GSM5's at Wal-Mart and GSM4's at Family Dollar. (Although, they were Net10 as opposed to Tracfone.)
I have a tracfone model 360. It show's a message at the top of phone, when I go to the message menue it has a "Star" across from it. Normally there will be a "0". Well, if you have actually tried everything, then there is nothing else to try!!!

YMMV: (as of 3/27) A few older Net.10 available at these B&Ms -- Walgreen's: LG 300G (with 300min/2mo) $30.99(?); Radio.Shack: LG 400G $30(?) (with 300min/2mo) + filler - 10 off $40 R$ coupon + YMMV mandatory refill purchase & in-store activation.
FYI: Unless you need these older units, it is probably better to get currently available deals. (e.g.)
Any good new deals? I have been checking the TF website regularly and nothing special, just the regular phone + 60 minute card bundles, which are nice, but I was hoping for a repeat of their restaurant gift card deal from Xmas.
I have beening buying the phone bundles with the time cards for years as a way to add airtime to my current phone. It may be coming to an end. Has anyone out there who has more then a few unactivated phones laying around ordered a bundle lately?? I tried a couple times over the last couple days, I get an error that my credit card proccessing was a problem. Tried numerious cards, the cfedit cards are not the problem. Anyone else having problems???

Anyone else having problems???That is the error you get when they have black listed you. The magic number seemed to be 50 phones at one time, but that has changed over the last couple of years. Some report being cut off after just a few phones. Activated or unactivated phones makes no difference.
You will no longer be able to use your name, address, credit card, email etc. Also note that even though you get the credit card error and the order is declined, a pre authorization for the full amount of the order is placed on your credit/debit card every time you attempt to order. Those charges will drop off from your account in 5 days.
You will have to get someone else to order for you, to a different address, if you want to continue getting the bundles. Calling CS will do no good because they will just enter the same info you do and get the same error, and tell you it must be a problem with the card.
jimates .. if you "give" these extra phones to friends and they activate them have you run into this same blacklisting issue? .. I'm not near 50 but I'm heading that route
and HEY where is the Tracfone Wirelss FatCash? .. it used to be so good!

and HEY where is the Tracfone Wirelss FatCash? .. it used to be so good!It doesn't matter about activation. Many black listed people will tell you that every phone they ever bought was activated, and they still can't order.
All mine were activated, and with mine and my sister's accounts both were cut off at exactly 50 phones ordered. I have a few others that were cut off long before 50.
