Nothing else to buy, but to qualify for the rebate, you must activate the SIM, make at least one call, and your account must be active when the rebate is processed. The airtime is valid for 90 days, so it shouldn't be necessary to add any more time (assuming you save at least a minute). Discalimer: This is all based on the T&C's of previous TMO rebates. That's not what the CSR said when I talked to her. She understood why I wanted them (to replace a phone on a monthly plan) and she said the 10 minutes airtime was good for only 60 days (but I don't plan to use it as prepaid so I don't care). If I have any problems with anything she promised, I can always go to the local TMobile Company Store nearby and talk it over with them. Same purpose here, I am currently on a myfave 500 plan with T-Mobile. My tmobile wing screen is cracked. i just want a cheap new phone while waiting for the replacement. Can I use this tmobile PREPAID cellphone with my old simcard (monthly account) and it will work just fine? I called the CSR but he said "since you told us that, we can not sell you the phone". I asked, "but it will work just fine right?", he said "I'm sorry, I can not tell you that". Please, could someone confirm? Thanks |

They are just feeding you b.s. because they want you to buy an expensive phone with a lengthy contract. |

You just swap the SIM cards. |

I am in for one. Thanks OP and others who answered my questions. Hopefully I will get the $30 rebate. $30 for a phone is still fair for me. i was gonna buy the V3 for $65 on eBay then came across this thread. Question still: does this phone have the myfave application like one on my Wing? Or i will have to edit my myfaves via tmobile website? Thanks |

I did that. They later removed the rebate and they say they will go by what is on the website now rather than what was at the time of purchase. desikid said:nanga said:My rebate was denied last time on the basis that instant discount is already applied, even though it was advertised on the web page. Even BBB couldn't resolve the issue. They don't honor their own rebates.
May be take a print out from their web page showing the FAR as final price which shows instant discoutn and MIR |

Green for the OP! I'm going to wait a week or so and see if they sweeten it up even more with a free $25 airtime card. |

1x1 said:I went all the way through except hitting the place order button and did not see any details about the rebate - no pdf, nothing. www.tmobilerebates.com doesn't list the Nokia 2610. Passing. I am not sure why messages asking about the rebate forms get red -- perhaps I don't understand something, I can't find the rebate form as well. If they mail the forms post-factum -- does not sound like a great idea to me to buy something without knowing what terms they'll invent. What bothers me -- I don't want a new number and a new prepaid plan this time. My previous TMo phone was stolen and I just want a replacement phone for my old account (prepaid, still have ~1000 minutes left there; blocked that account after the theft, have ~20 days left to replace the phone so TMo would port my balance to the new sim). Thus if the rebate terms are the same as for Nok6030 a year ago (quoted above: activation, calls from the new number, new acct active when rebate is processed) -- it's pretty risky for me to hope to get the rebate within 20 days so that to have time to reactivate my old number/balance with the new set (after receiving the reabate check). I'd greatly appreciate if anyone knowledgeable about the current rebate post the info. Thanks |

After that, you can toss the SIM in the drawer and put your current SIM in the phone and use it. BTW, people have reported in the past that they've received a postpaid rebate form, not a prepaid rebate form in the box, so look at it carefully before sending it. |

I can't comment about the current rebate, but I did this deal last year to get a replacement phone for my monthly plan. Here's what you had to do: 1) Activate the SIM card that comes with the phone. You'll be given a new number that is associated with this card. 2) Make one call using the phone and SIM card to fulfill the rebate terms. 3) Swap out the SIM card for the one associated with whatever other TM account you want to use. The phone is now good to go. 4) The account you established in step 1 stays active as long as it has airtime remaining - regardless of whether the SIM card is in a phone. |

Thanks for the comments. NoMoneyInMyWallet -- I remember the last year discussion about getting a form for postpaid plans; I actually got one in the box myself; yet then there was a form online at the time of purchase, specifically for prepaid, where the only subtle point was about "authorized dealer". CSR "promised" me then that buying from T-Mobile.com would qualify. This time, however, I can't find any form online. About swapping the sims -- is my 2nd concern, as I don't have another sim; I'll need TMo CSR on the phone to somehow deactivate my new prepaid acct (the one I'll buy with this Nokia 2610), and then to reload my old (stolen) number and balance to this freshly bought sim. I'd rather have my rebate check in hand before calling for this operation. Last year I got the Nok6030 reabate within 2 weeks, probably because I was their new customer, perfectly smoothly. |

As I stated earlier, the net cost (assuming you can use or sell the $25 card) would only be ~$15 more than the 2610, no rebate hassle, and no need to active the SIM. Plus, IMO, the V195s is a much better phone than the 2610. As an added benefit, you can ask for an unlock code for the V195, unlock it, and either use it worldwide or sell it for > $15 more than the 2610. P.S. Did you ask if you can get a free replacement SIM from a TMO store? |
