The Southern California housing market looks like it’s in tough shape. If you need further proof, just look at this unbelievable housing offer. If you purchase a Royal View Estate home (starting at $1.6 million), the developer will throw a free $400,000 home in Escondido for free. Dawn Berry, a spokesperson for the developer, Michael Crews Development, said this is a legitimate offer and they promise that they have not artificially inflated the prices of either home. Unfortunately the promo is listed as expiring May 31, 2008 but I bet if you ask maybe they’ll extend it.
The housing market here is not as bad as you think. It all depends on the area. I did purchase my foreclosed condo but my realtor is off the charts busy now and it's LA baby so it's already starting to pick up. If you're looking to buy, this is a great time to do it. I do think we here in the LA area will come out of this before the rest of the country.
I just love that I know I got a great deal in true FW spirit. In my 20 yrs of savings, it was pure FW form that I paid less then all prices I could find listed for my condo in the past four years. At the peak, I paid 100K less. And I got a great fixed mortgage. It takes work but there are good deals out there.
And of course if you have the money for this deal, you belong in the millionares FW club.

Agreed, though if you could return the 1.6m house and keep the freebie... could be hot.

the "no $ down or zero out of pocket real estate shows" will love this.... as your 20% down on the $1.6 is already included by using the $400,000 one as downpayment..
