I went to Ruth's Chris in Sarasota, FL, a couple of years back and have not returned. I too found the experience to be somewhat over-rated. The waitress was trying way too hard to be sophisticated (and failing miserably) and I didn't enjoy my steak cooked in butter if the truth be told. Steakhouses do vary greatly - even at the same location/restaurant. I did have some very good experiences at Sam Seltzers in Sarasota but that has been outweighed by below average/mediocre dinners. When I was working in Canada in 2003 (Edmonton) , we found a chain called the Keg and they served excellent steaks for the money! The price for this deal sounds very appetizing I must admit |

How is their seafood? Yes its a weird question to ask about a steakhouse, but I'm just wondering. |

Yes its a weird question to ask about a steakhouse, but I'm just wondering. I don't think that's a weird question. I bought rib eye at a fish house in Maui and it was even to this day the best rib eye I've ever had. |

My mouth was watering when I read the topic. My only experience was in Hawaii and they had just opened and the food was to die for. I had never had a better steak in my entire life (and we used to eat out a lot). My visit to NY would include a dinner to RC until my brother told me not it was not that good. Maybe the location matters? I was planning on going to RC on my next trip to the Bay area, but after reading this blog.... I guess I won't |

A side note on those using Giant Eagle deal -- buy the gift card at Kennedy or Crafton location and you'll get double free gas points (so $.40 off per gallon with $100 gift card). I'll be calling the Pittsburgh location to verify they participate then I will probably follow advocatus's steps, but not with his wife |

eggfooyoung said:Unfortunately it's not valid in Hawaii. =( I just called the waikiki location. Instead they have a early bird special for $40 and one for $46. The entrée is from a limited selection, but I didn't ask what they were. You're in hawaii going to eat Ruth's??? Go to Suntory on Kalakaua (in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center on the 3rd floor) and get the Suntory course. It's a lot more pricier since one meal is 1 1/2 more than the 2 people deal but you won't regret it. |

Let's get back on topic now. And their wine selection sucksI don't care about service too much, at least with restaurants. I just want the price to be good and the food quality to be nice. I guess people thought that I was serious based on the reds that I've gotten on that prior post. but seriously, service does matter to me. When you're taking 45 minutes to get me a steak burrito, that ruins it. I don't need my server to ask me "can I help you" every 5 minutes, but at least patrol the area so that I can wave you down. I tip according to service. I'll drop 25% down if the service justifies it. I'll also drop a dollar if the service justifies that too. But you just don't get that good service from Wendy's. I mean, no dessert cart??? |

We've eaten at Ruth's in 6 cities and it is consistently excellent service, best steaks, and a great time. Ruth's is not a place to gulp down the 'ole 76er... it's about quality not quantity...only 5% of all beef is high enough quality to be served here. This is the place to slow down, have a cocktail or two and enjoy a quality meal in a classy place. The $89 deal is a great way to introduce yourself to Ruth's or a great excuse to go back more often if a regular customer. |

I just called the Midtown Manhattan location and they are part of the deal. It goes to Sept 1. If you have an odd numbered party, the additional person is $47.50. |

Thanks OP... I hope this deal is still valid in the beginning of August, or we'll just have to go early. Any idea how long this deal usually lasts? What is giant eagle and what does it have to do with this step?
Sorry. He meant Spread Eagle, and it's part of "Step 3". they're married, once that happens, nothing is spread except maybe butter on bread |
