You're in hawaii going to eat Ruth's??? Go to Suntory on Kalakaua (in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center on the 3rd floor) and get the Suntory course. It's a lot more pricier since one meal is 1 1/2 more than the 2 people deal but you won't regret it. Roy's is great. But the absolute best secret of Honolulu is Little Village. Probably the best food in the world. Someone took us there, then we started taking everyone we knew there. |

because it is a crime against perfectly good beef. At Peter Luger's (Brooklyn location), the waiters don't ask you how you want your steak, they only ask how much you want and serve it to you medium rare. I wouldn't be surprised if they asked you to leave right then and there if you tried to ordered the steaks well-done. |

I've always preferred my meat "medium-well" but depending on the establishment you need to ask for it well done as they tend to serve on the rare side. After watching a documentary in the UK about eating rare beef and tape-worms - I'm firmly a "medium-well" to "well" done meat eater, however, if you do like tapeworms then by all means enjoy your meat rare... |

Oh boy, here it comes. On a very serious note, I put Morton's, The Palm and RC in the same category. Capital Grill is better in terms of appetizers and sides, as well as quality of the beef (not much, but better). They are all fair to middling, and overpriced. You're really paying for the environment more than anything else. And on an equally serious note, the best kept secret in the world of steakhouses, if you can stand country music, is Texas Roadhouse - get the 12 ounce New York Strip for $14.99 or the 8 ounce Sirloin for $9.99. There's only one way to cook BEEF - AND THAT'S OVER AN OPEN FLAME, BABY! Texas Roadhouse has the best steaks, cooked perfectly, and they do use Choice Beef - which is a cut above most other chains. They DO NOT use Select. If you didn't know better, you'd swear it was prime. Much, much better than Outback, Lonestar, Logan's, or the myriad of other steakhouse chains. The caesar salad actually has decent dressing, too. I know I'm off topic, though. If you haven't tried RC, this is a good way to judge it for yourself. OP deserves credit for posting this deal. |

I thought maybe there was something wrong with my mouth...
dude, if you think it's only a 'bit' better than sizzler and outback was far superior, there IS something wrong with your mouth. outback actually does a decent job for the price, but the cuts of meat aren't nearly as good, and they seem tenderized to hell. sizzler... just sucks. i can see someone not liking ruth's chris if they're not a fan of butter however, and the quality can vary from location to location.

Sorry if this is a bit OT but could someone please explain this companies name? I used to think people were saying "Ruth's crisp steak house" and I thought who wants crisp steak? But Ruth's Chris steak house is even stranger. Is Chris a type of steak? If not, is there other "Chris steak houses" besides Ruth's? Are Ruth and Chris 2 people? Seriously the grammer is troubling. |

Original name was Chris steak house. A woman(her name was Ruth) bought the single location with the agreement they could use the name only at that location. That location burned down. After rebuiling at another location, they were told they could no longer use that name legaly, Hence the new owner (Her name was Ruth) simply did a slick move and renamed it Ruth's Chris steak house, avoiding ang legal action. |

I just ate at the Las Vegas Ruths Chris (Flamingo Road one) and they had a great Dusk special for $35.95 which included Soup or Salad, Petite Filet, Veggie, and Chocolate Mousse. The salad selection was house/ceasar, soup was lobster bisque, there were 3 other entree choices that I forgot what they were (Chicken and Salmon maybe?) Veggie selection was 6 choices if I remember right including Mashed Potatos, Steak Fries, Creamed Spinach, and I don't remember the rest of the veggie options. Pretty good deal also. We went to get the $89 deal and ended up with this special instead! |

Last year for Fathers Day we went to Ruth's Chris and were lucky enough to get something extra that's not listed on the menu: food poisoning. The manager gave us a $150 gift card after I told them about it. I sold it on Craigslist, just don't feel comfortable going there again. |

We all shared an appetizer there, and that was the only common food we had that day. It was quite apparent, we all got sick about the same time too (3am-ish). There were four of us. (forgot to add that) |

because it is a crime against perfectly good beef. I'd certainly tend to agree...however, the one person I know who is absolutely adamant about his beef being well done, even at great steakhouses, is a local rancher. Made me think, though not enough to change from medium rare. |

I had my meal. They tried to tell me my daughter as a single, could not partake in the deal at half the $89, even though they assured me on the phone she could. The waiter was very attitudey about it, I insisted he check, then he came back with a nice attitude and said he was sorry and I was correct. Meal was GGRR8T, but everything seemd so rushed drinks not finished all the way were scooped up, plates not completely empty were being grabbed as some of us were still eating. I had to keep stopping them. I will go back and talk to the manager B4 my meal next time to ensure it does not ahppen again. |

Ate at the Manhattan location this past Saturday, just before seeing a show. The menu they offered varies somewhat from the one in the summary. The NY Strip is replaced by a Mixed Grill (4oz filet, 4oz crab cake and 6oz stuffed chicken breast) and some of the sides are not offered. Here's the menu: FIRST COURSE - Choice of one per guest Caesar Salad Steak House Salad Louisiana Seafood Gumbo ENTREE - Choice of one per guest Fresh Fish Selection Petite Filet (8oz) Mixed Grill (see above) Roasted Free-Range Stuffed Chicken SIDES - Choose two to share Steamed Broccoli Sautéed Mushrooms Broiled Tomatoes Creamed Spinach Potatoes au Gratin Garlic Mashed Potatoes Julienne Potatoes DESSERT - Choose one to share Bread Pudding Berries & Cream Cheesecake Ice Cream Sorbet Apple Crumb Tart Chef’s Chocolate Selection _______________________________________ Hope that's helpful. $89 for two is a decent price for steak in Manhattan, and the filet was quite tender and tasty, but the rest of the meal was below average for a New York steakhouse. But if you're in from out of town, and want to eat a fancy meal on the cheap, you could do worse. If you want a great meal, and don't mind paying double the price, there are much better options (Peter Luger's the best among them). |
