Ad Scan (the ad said "any" blu ray player, so it will work whether the PS3 is bundled or not)
Bundle price is $499 + $100 Gift card from WalMart. new Sony CC user will get another $100 credit to back to their account. Press release link Enjoy!
TIP to check how many of the 80gb bundle will be in your store (Borroed from SD):
If you want to try and make it idiot-proof for the WM associate here's a step-by-step:
1) Ask them to sign into their gemini/telezon (new name is Gemini while the old name is Telezon). 2) Tell them to click on item management (might be product management) 3) Tell them to go into perpetual inventory. 4) Have them either type in "71171980110" for the UPC on the first line OR have them type in "543198" for "Item" 5) Have them tell you how many are "On Hand" "In Transit" "In Warehouse" "On Order"
Here's what each one means too:
On Hand: what they have in stock at the moment.
In Transit: what they are getting either today/tonight or the next day. Usually they will have it within the next day if it says "In Transit"
In Warehouse: means what they have ordered and are going to be receiving (ie. if the "On Order" number is "3" and the "In Warehouse" number is "2" then what that means is they want 3 but only going to be receiving 2).
On Order: what they are trying to order
So right now, as it stands, my WalMart is *trying* to get 2 but there's currently none in the warehouse. Hopefully it will change in time for the 12th. Pic of the inventory checker

I couldn't see the dates on that ad scan. I thought this promotion ended on June 7. If not then this is probably the best deal out there (with the Sony card of course).
Also, how do you get fw Cash Back on a deal like this? Don't you just have to show up at the store and be lucky to get one of these bundles?
I thought the same thing dafish... I just figured since it says "any" blu-ray player that if it was actually good past the 7th that it wouldn't matter which PS3 you buy. The question is, is the offer good after the 7th? Furthermore, will they even have the 80gb bundle available for sale?
(On a side note - anyone know if the bundle has been confirmed for Best Buy?)

I recd the flyer today from WalMart (Fathers day special) which clearly says 40 G, and 100 dollar GC exactly like the one going on Jun 1 thru Jun 7. So, I guess this time around they just added any Blu ray player gets a 100 GC
I already got mine and have to return one to the store which was purchased as a backup in case the online deal get cancelled for whatever reason. So far so good, it is all good.

I would like to know if Best Buy will also have $100 GC offer with the ps3 bundle.
I can understand that the gift card is likely to happen, and the Sony card deal is obvious. But I haven't seem proof of the MGS4/80 GB bundle at WM? Doe someone have a link?

I couldn't see the dates on the ad either, could someone confirm this deal? And the ad also stated only 40 GB, I don't think the MGS4 bundle qualifies...yes, it is a blu-ray player, but it will probably be considered game console by Wal-Mart (unless you get a nice Customer Rep)..

same principle with the free hd-dvd's from BB with purchase of ANY hd player.. including xbox 360.

Just saw this article on endgadget:
Given that $100 at Wal-Mart is essentially as good as cash, we can only imagine how titillating this offer may seem for Blu-ray holdouts. Announced today, the mega-retailer will be offering a $100 gift card with the purchase of any Blu-ray player from June 8th through 14th -- and yes, Sony's PlayStation 3 is included. In case this wasn't enough to maybe-possibly get the general public to actually pay attention to the format, Wally World will also sell "select" BD titles for $15 starting on the 8th. Since the format war ended earlier this year, we've seen report after report proclaiming that Blu-ray adoption just wasn't taking off here in America, but with a theoretical net price now close to $200 (albeit for a few days only), we can certainly see the masses taking notice at long last.
So yea, seems like the deal is good from June 8th-14th...If this includes the MGS4 bundle, I will be returning my PS3 to BB.
Any thoughts guys on how things like this work with WalMart? Do they start selling them at 12:00am on the 12th? Do you just show up early and wait? Maybe I should talk with the manager at my local 24 hour WalMart and find out.
Also can anyone tell me how long it takes to get the Sony CC? I just signed up for one and it said 2 weeks and I am hoping it might be a little faster.
I wonder if I could get the bundle and then return it and rebuy it if I dont get my credit card in time.

from what I've read, the time ranges from 7-10 days, someone said he got it in 5 days cuz he lives close to where the CC's are sent out (I think its Wilmington, DE).
It looks to me like WalMart is taking aim at best buy - new "test it out" area for games, expanding tv selection...with their ability to integrate electronics amongst larger shipping/distribution channels along with other classes of items, BB may have a hard time keeping up. Of course, this is totally dependent on how much of the market WalMart decides to take on. If they decide to, say, offer a full range of Panasonic plasmas along with Samsung LCD's to complement their existing, more "run of the mill" fare, then BB will have to change their home theater business model to reflect that competition. WalMart might not decide right off the bat to devote BestBuy-sized floor space exclusively to home theater, but they can certainly pick their battles and undercut BB pricing wherever and whenever they wish.
Has anyone here taken advantage of a similar deal and profited by sale on eBay of the PS3?

Just applied for the Sony CC. Approved instantly. Hopefully it will arrive here by next Wednesday so I can go to Wally World at midnight to pick this thing up. Thx op!

Yeah...Im doing the same thing. If I dont get the CC in time though I am going to return it and rebuy it if I can.
The funniest part about this though is I already jumped on the previous deal for the 40g...so now I have to return that one for a refund of $299.99 + tax. Gonna be a busy night Wednesday night!

If you still have the unused GC, you can ask for a full refund (instead of the $299.99 + tax).

Nope...I got the online deal and then bought an instore giftcard with the online giftcard. It's ok though...we buy our groceries there so it wont make a difference.

I just got the PS3 last night. It is still unopened and I have the unused GC that I got with it as well. If I wait till 12th and return this and buy the mgs4 version, will i still be eligible for the $100 from the Sony card?

The best and accurate way to find out is to call Sony cc directly and ask if you are eligible for the $100 credits.
Why must we wait for the MGS4 bundle? I can just get the 40GB for a net $200 after the CC and GC promos.
Is there a technical improvement in the MGS4 sku? I'm a gamer, but I was seriously only buying this for the BluRay, there's not many games I can see playing on PS3 when I already own Wii and 360. Thoughts?

The main appeal of the MGS4 bundle is you get MGS4, the rumble dual shock controller and the 80gb ps3. The 80gb version lets you play ps2 games. The 40gb does not.

Yep, I just read that the backwards compatibility was restored with the 80gb. I dont care much for stealth action, so I'll probably sell MGS4, but backwards compatibility is important. I guess I'll have to camp out for the MGS4 pack...

i'm still contemplating if i should sign up for the Sony cc just for the $100 dollars off, don't know if itll be worth it since ill only be using it just for the discount.

If you got approved, most of them will get an instant cc number and other details. Not sure why you did not get one. Maybe they are trying to limit people to get on the PS3 deals.

If you have a PS2 already, then you really do not need backwards compatibility. You can just use PS2 along with the 40 gig version.

I was approved instantly and it said 2 weeks to receive card, no other details.
Also, if in the future we can save a game to the console, 40G owner will screw up because some games might be as big as 50G according to Sony

Do you realize how many consoles would be sitting under my TV if I did that? Having the compatibility is a huge win, not to mention I'm running out of ports. As it is now, someone won't be getting HDMI as I only have 2 HDMI ports total and that bugs me....
I just called Wal-Mart by me and they are not opening at Midnight for this and our Walmarts aren't 24hrs. If you camp out, you're in for a long night until 7am opening. I'll probably just go in the morning and get it. I'm not staying out all night, I did it for Wii... I'm getting too old for this sh*t.

Hey knuckehead, WalMart's systems don't have the ability to restrict gift cards to the SKU level. It doesn't matter what they told you, it will work for anything in the store.
See my post where the manager told me directly that they do. You don't have a clue so must resort to name calling. I won in the end with two $100 GCs. Yes, I won big time!
I got the WalMart GC in the mail yesterday and used it today to buy some groceries without any problems.
