Does any one know if the package comes with an actual copy of MGS4 on a blueray disk? Or is it installed on the hard drive? |

It is a software emulation. Please do a search before you post garbage.
You're right, i did further research and found that this is the same 80GB we've always had. It's debatable whether or not it's an improvement over the 40GB, since it's still a software based solution. I'd probably get by with just the 40gb at this point. It's not debatable. jhisgen should have done a search before posting garbage. The 80GB is a software solution, but it's not hard to debate that a software solution is better than NO solution. The 40GB can not play PS2 games, PERIOD. The 80GB can, through software emulation (with the exception of a relatively small percentage of titles that still have some glitches with emulation). In addition, the 80GB has twice the USB ports (So add $20 to the 40GB for a hub if you want to play Rockband), SACD support (nada on the 40GB), and can read flash cards. Plus the dual-shock controller. It's debatable whethter those differences are important to YOU, but there is no question that there are differences in the hardware. |

Seccond person told me the same thing. I then said to the 2nd CS that "I'm looking at the promotion ad and it says at an authorized retailer." He advised me to "purchase at a Sony store and not at WalMart or any other place because there is no guaranty that I will get the $100 credit." I then asked the guy if its a two different promotion and he said "I dont know."
Question; I followed the link from Sony style website when singing up for the card. Does it mean i have to use it at Sony style?
P.S: the funny thing is that I never mention "WalMart" to the guy....
P.S: Whats you guys' take on this? I don't think you should leave the house. |

Don't know if the PS3 Rockband is the same as the XBOX 360 version, but the XBOX version comes with a powered USB hub. If you don't have any PS2 games, would you really miss not being able to play PS2 games on the PS3?
I bought the 40GB model PS3 at Wal-Mart and for me I don't think I'm going to miss the 2 USB ports, the card slots or being able to play PS2 games, since I only plan to play games on the PS3, the controllers are wireless and I don't own any PS2 games. |

So you need one connection for the drum set, one for the mic, one for the wireless guitar dongle (don't know why they didn't just make bluetooth), and a fourth usb port if you add a second guitar (and you may have other needs for those ports, such as for an IR dongle). Obviously, if you don't care about PS2, SACD, etc., then the differences are moot. But the point remains, there ARE hardware differences. They may not a big deal, but people should be aware of them to ensure they get the version that addresses THEIR needs. I've seen several people post buying 40GB versions then being all upset because it wouldn't play PS2, or wouldn't play their SACDs, or whatever. It doesn't help when people post falsely that they have the same capabilities. They don't. |

Are you sure this is a feature that will be unveiled in the US, and if so, when? Otherwise, unless someone plans on living overseas, we may not get to experience this extra feature. But it does look awesome, I wonder how it stacks up with TiVo. |

WalMart never has anything on release day. Don't expect the 80GB PS3 until after the 14th of June and probably not until after the 19th. |

So... is it possible to buy the console, return the console but keep the GC, then buy the console w/ GC for $400? Or apply the GC directly at purchase? Sorry I have never been to Wallyworld. |

I know the site mentions any purchase over $299 will qualify for 0% financing, however it says only the PS3 purchase will qualify for the $100 rebate. I only ask as I'm intending to purchase the MGS4 package, and got instantly approved for the card today... so am not sure if I'll get the card in time. What are the chances of getting it within a week? I just applied for credit and they actually approved me on the spot AND gave me my numbers to use right away, including a "temporary" security code and expiration date. Very cool. If I were you, I'd try giving them a call and getting the number from them. |

I can't think of any games released for the PS3 that are also on the PS2, except Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. There are probably others, though. The PS3 versions look better, yes. |

randall said: The main appeal of the MGS4 bundle is you get MGS4, the rumble dual shock controller and the 80gb ps3. The 80gb version lets you play ps2 games. The 40gb does not.
You can upgrade the HD yourself, search on google how to upgrade PS3 Hard drive. Read here
The 80GB bundle has the better Emulation Hardware that allows PS2 and PSone games to be played Back correctly without much problems. DualShock3 is also about 50 or 60 dollars and totally worth it.
It's not about the Hard drive, it's about the hardware inside. My post never said anything about the 40GB and 80 GB PS3 hardware capabilities. If you cared to read all the post the hardware comparison is already beaten to death, the hard drive upgrade also applies to 80 GB model, you can upgrade to 120 160 GB disks. I am trying to help people make informed decision, especially those who do not own PS2 PS1 games do not need backward compatibility . |

There are some ugly PS3 games, and some very pretty PS2 games. But the vast majority of time, PS3 will look infinitely better. Its like watching HD vs SD on a TV. And PS2 games do look better when played on the PS3, just not as good as PS3 games. |
