You should have just returned it to Lowe's. that would have been difficult as i didn't buy it there. bought online, had no problem reselling for the same price during the major heatwave we had with no a/c's in any b&m. |

Uh, no. 220 uses the same watts, just less amperes. If that's the case then it will use the exact same wattage...but being more efficient will use less. |

pabster892 said:where can one purchase these size units that ARE "Energy Star" certified? None of the machines below (I think) 15,000btu that Home Depot carries are energy star compliant. I was in there today and they had about 200 Window ACs in the front of the store. I'm in Connecticut where most people do NOT have central AC. I don't think it becomes an issue until you get to that level of power anyway. |

Just picked up my units, FAC107S1A and FAM157S1A. Looked at the "new" models and didn't notice any differences aside from the S in both models is now a P. Asked about it, and the rep said that they do that more to track the year of manufacture than anything else...anyone have some insight on this? btw, thanks OP! Quite a few left in Camillus (13031) and around Syracuse, NY. |

I just picked up a 6,500 for my father. I've had the 6500 for last year and its not really very loud. The compressor kicking on and off is not very loud at all. My wife wanted a new AC so bad after our last Energy Star AC kicked on and off all night and kept her out. These models are great IMO. |

who buys 4-5k btu ac's? i've got a 6k btu unit in my bedroom and it's struggling right now. the 12k in my living room would get a good workout if i put it on...but i'll stay hunkered down for a few more hours until this heat wave passes. |

albrandwood said:these are basic a/c units ... they aren't efficient (the 5kBTU has an EER of 9.7, which means it's not EnergyStar Compliant) ... they don't have remote controls ...
go to Costco, and get modern, remote controlled units for significantly less... if you're buying two or more, the difference in cost could outweight the membership fee! (especially if your electric provider gives EnergyStar Rebates on window A/Cs)
@ the 15kBTU model has an EER of 10.7, so it IS EnergyStar Compliant, and you might be eligible for the $50 rebate found here*
*-this site will let you look up the model to see if it is EnergyStar Compliant. The actual rebate will come from your local energy company. |

DealWinners said:I am interested but like to know how easy (or difficult) is the installation. Does it lower the property value once we install? Installation? You put it in the window and close it, pull out the side things to fill in the rest of the window then plug it in. The only hard part might be if it's to heave to lift by yourself but it's not something you put in permantly... you'll have to take it out in the winter. |

The one in my bedroom is I think 5200 BTU but I'm thinking about getting a bigger one. It's good most of the time but on some of the hotter days it's still a bit warmer than I'd like. |

This baby kicked out some nice cool air. Our room is about 16 x 32 and became chilly quite guickly. I'm very pleased for $200 bucks. Good luck! |

Good luck! thanks. I was skeptical with the mixed reviews about the noise. We should expect all A/C make noise, just not so loud. |
