on monitor page, click very top option NO MONITOR Subtract $135

Sorry, I should have been more specific, doesn't that bring it below the $599 threshold, thus the coupon doesn't work?

it may, you can either choose different upgrades to get it back over $599 OR if you'd simply rather pay less and don't need all the bells/whistles, get the $364 package.

FYI, it has to be ABOVE $599. Yesterday I managed to configure a system for exactly $599 and the coupon wouldn't work until I made it $600 or more.

Also note that adding software from the first page of the config (like Office) counts, but adding something from other pages like QuickBooks doesn't.

will this one run the GF 8800??

Right . . . you don't need the coupon to get $364. In fact you can strip it down to $299, but free S/H disappears.

Cheapest config I could get and still use coupon was $601 using the $2 plant a tree option on last page.

I think this is a great deal if you need a computer now and dont want to wait anymore, have seen better deals but it is tough to actually get in on one when the deal comes.

Not unless you replace the power supply. Looking at the specs, this has a 250 Watt DC Power Supply, and 8800s typically require 400 Watt plus power supplies.

As someone who has a Vostro 200, you also wouldn't want to stick in something that hot. The fans are fine as is, but it'd be far too hot with a high-end video card.

i would downgrade the memory to 1GB, but upgrade the hard drive to 500G, and the total is $5 less, since memory is cheap.

Any reaason not to get the vostro 200 slim tower? I Won't be gaming and don't need multiple drives. I'm Trying to get total up to $600 for coupon. Is $30 for Dell optical mouse ok? Are Dell speakers good? I see june 18 is last day Dell offers XP,hmm.

You can get the mouse cheaper else where, you can get a whole wireless desktop (mouse/keyboard) sometimes for about $20-30. There are speakers deals all the time at OD or Staples from $10 up. Spend the money on good upgrades like hard drive, processor, or even a larger monitor if you are getting an LCD.

Don't need monitor. I've upped everything elce. So it's pay $30 to upgrade from xp to vista premium, or pay $40 for their 2.1 speakers. Any thoughts? Any reason not to buy slim tower?

how about adding extra warranty? that may pay for itself if you are keeping the system a few years

Looks like it's $364 if you leave the processor at "E2160" and NO monitor.
