WinTV HVR-1250 HDTV Tuner PCIe $39.99+tax, free shipping.

It's an ATSC/QAM tuner for your PCI-Express x1 slot. It also supports NTSC analog, but uses software encoding so analog picture quality isn't very good. Not the best choice for analog sources.
It's a nice price for a nice tuner if you only use ATSC or QAM though.

You can always use vendor's wintv software for QAM.

Thanks op. i get impression x cards are getting harder to find, so this works out perfectly. The specs do mention mce..so we will see how it works out when i get it. All set for 2009 now.

what do you mean x cards? do you mean PCI express x1 cards? I thought all the newer cards were PCI express?

last time i got one, it came with a half-height bracket.

1250 also works with watchhdtv 1.96

for example when looking over the cards on circuity city i see very few of thse type of cards at a reasonable price. I've just not seen a deal on one before.
