This is one of the best deals ever. I got mine quite a while ago when Amazon had it for $34.95 and have been using it to save all my old NiMH batteries. Some of them are already 7-8 year old. This charger works great for them. Highly recommended. |

roccodyce said:So where does everyone get their batteries from?
I'm afraid of generics (or brands I don't recognize) but I don't want to pay $3+/battery.
I need about 20 AA and a lot less AAA. If you need a large batch and are in a hurry there have been posts/reviews about various online bulk battery sellers. I haven't used any so I can't comment, but you should be able to search FW. If you are not in a hurry, you can look for sales on recharables. I have had good luck with energizers from CVS when they are on sale, plus using a $$ off coupon. Keep an eye out for sales and coupons! |

russellt said:Good charger but is this really a good deal or some promotional use of fat wallet how this shows up here every couple of moths at about the same price. Well, a good deal to me is a desirable product at the best price currently available with some research of the price history of the product. I can't find a better price (with shipping) and the price has not been lower in well over a year. In my definition that is good deal. Please list your definition. Promotional use of fw happens all the time, and by all means I encourage companies to lower their prices to get listed on fw. |

walletfart said:For $40 you can buy a heck of a lot of batteries. Is there any cost/benefit analysis to show that this pays for itself? (ignore the green factor please) Actually, at this point, it's impossible to ignore the green factor. Sure, you could buy a zillion garbage-quality batteries from some retailer, but at some point, even if you recycle those batteries, some part of them is going to end up in a landfill, ocean, or dumped by the side of the road in some 3rd-World country. |

walletfart said:For $40 you can buy a heck of a lot of batteries. Is there any cost/benefit analysis to show that this pays for itself? (ignore the green factor please)Goes back to what I said earlier in the thread. If you're a very casual user of NiMH batteries and only keep 4 or 6 around, I can't argue this is for you.
However, I have about 24 batteries in my 'cycle', for photography all the way down to Wii remotes. A common problem was putting 4 freshly-charged batteries into a device and have it die after only slight use; this charger's "Test" function will isolate and expose the single battery that isn't holding its charge, which you can then usually "Refresh" to almost-new charge capacity.
I've now successfully isolated and refreshed 4 batteries that had deteriorated to "full charges" under 100 mAh -- one was at 14! -- from their original 2500 mAh capacity.
If I hadn't bought this charger, my alternative would've been to throw away (recycle, rather) all my batteries and buy all new ones, at a cost of about $50. While I spent about that much on this charger, it's a more permanent and working solution (won't have to go throwing away batteries again in 2-3 years)
And now I can isolate bad batteries as they surface, rather than dealing with them on the field -- not to mention this intelligent charger will prevent these duds from becoming a problem in the first place.
kevin04 said:can i charge eneloop batteries with this?Absolutely. Set it to the 200 mA charge setting and you've got the best Eneloop charger anywhere. |

Bought this a month back from www.thomasdistributing.com and couldn't be happier with it. It resurrected a pile of old NiMH batteries with its "Refresh" function, saving me a good portion of the cost of the charger. I've recharged Eneloops with it. Thomas Distributing was pleasant to deal with, though they don't offer free shipping as Amazon does. |

No. The charger comes with AA to C adapters though - at least mine did when I bought it from them a few months ago. You get 4 x C and D battery adapters for use with AA batteries. Also a decent quality travel bag. Look at it his way, wait maybe months for this charger to come down another $3 - $5., and meantime your tossing batteries (and $) away because you have a charger that doesn't recondition.

In for one thanks OP!! Also on the lookout for rechargable batteries now. So the C/D adapters allow you to charge C/D batteries?? [sorry if that's a really dumb question ] |

bluevideo said:Don't be fooled by Amazon's notice that there's a "newer" model... said newer model has fewer options and doesn't include any extra accessories.Yes, but the BC-700 is cheaper and doesn't come with the crappy / worthless batteries. I got a BC-700 from Amazon for $29.95. I have one of each, and the BC-700 is very bit as good if you don't use the higher current charge rates (which you probably shouldn't to maximize your battery life). |

Anyone know if you can still do the “tweak” to get either of these chargers to show up in your Gold Box for an extra discount? I was able to do this for the Waterpik back in March, but it seems like Amazan has changed things and you do not have the same level of access to your GB that you once did. |
