If you're a "serious" user of NiMH batteries, you gotta get this charger. You'll wonder how you ever did without it... I've "refreshed" many batteries which were down from their 2500 mAh rated capacity to sub-100 levels.

I ended up giving up on this deal coming back, a few weeks ago -- and bought from Thomas Distributing. Purchase went well, but this deal is a bit better & from a larger retailer.

Don't be fooled by Amazon's notice that there's a "newer" model... said newer model has fewer options and doesn't include any extra accessories.

Thanks, OP. I had been conflicted as to which charger to get (this one or a Maha brand one) and price was definitely an issue. Hooray for 4 AA and 4 AAA batteries with it!

So where does everyone get their batteries from?

I'm afraid of generics (or brands I don't recognize) but I don't want to pay $3+/battery.

I need about 20 AA and a lot less AAA.

In for one.. hoping to condition some of my old batteries.

Well, a good deal to me is a desirable product at the best price currently available with some research of the price history of the product. I can't find a better price (with shipping) and the price has not been lower in well over a year. In my definition that is good deal. Please list your definition. Promotional use of fw happens all the time, and by all means I encourage companies to lower their prices to get listed on fw.

However, I have about 24 batteries in my 'cycle', for photography all the way down to Wii remotes. A common problem was putting 4 freshly-charged batteries into a device and have it die after only slight use; this charger's "Test" function will isolate and expose the single battery that isn't holding its charge, which you can then usually "Refresh" to almost-new charge capacity.

I've now successfully isolated and refreshed 4 batteries that had deteriorated to "full charges" under 100 mAh -- one was at 14! -- from their original 2500 mAh capacity.

If I hadn't bought this charger, my alternative would've been to throw away (recycle, rather) all my batteries and buy all new ones, at a cost of about $50. While I spent about that much on this charger, it's a more permanent and working solution (won't have to go throwing away batteries again in 2-3 years)

And now I can isolate bad batteries as they surface, rather than dealing with them on the field -- not to mention this intelligent charger will prevent these duds from becoming a problem in the first place.

Yes. There are some better ones out now though, like Delkin, that last are still slow discharge yet last longer than Eneloops.

Bought this a month back from www.thomasdistributing.com and couldn't be happier with it. It resurrected a pile of old NiMH batteries with its "Refresh" function, saving me a good portion of the cost of the charger. I've recharged Eneloops with it. Thomas Distributing was pleasant to deal with, though they don't offer free shipping as Amazon does.

No, the C/D adapter allows you to use the AA batteries. The adaptor is just a case the size of C/D batteries that the AA's fit in.

Anyone know if you can still do the “tweak” to get either of these chargers to show up in your Gold Box for an extra discount? I was able to do this for the Waterpik back in March, but it seems like Amazan has changed things and you do not have the same level of access to your GB that you once did.
