I went to my local OD today and saw one sitting on a cart by the tech kiosk. A manager saw me grab it and asked me if I was interested(duh!)..... I sensed he was desperate to sell it, so I asked him if he would take anything off the price and he took $5 off for me. Ended up being a sweet deal for $38 after tax.

This seems like the deal that will never end. I just picked up the last 2 around here today. Great deal, thanks a lot OP.

went to OD this afternoon and showed the manager the printout to see if they had it in stock, he coudln't find any in the back and looked at me all crazy, saying they only saw $229 pricing on the web, not $39.99.

Grabbed the last NIB in my area yesterday using the afore mentioned OM $15 off $40. $25+tax, not bad.

Had a OD store look up the internal store inventory system, showed a store 4 miles away having 2.

Grabbed a display as I could not find the other new box,
they had the box for in the back with unopened toner so I felt safe to buy it.

Did not give me the standard 10% open box discount as I think the manager actually wanted the printer for him self
and I pissed him of by buying it.

Went to OD website to pick one up in store and it said item was discontinued! Crap.

I just picked up two more at the OD around the corner in Clovis, CA at Willow and Herndon. I picked one up earlier at the Clovis OD at Peach and Ashlan. These were the last ones in all those stores.

I love that this is a network printer!

Using one at home for kid's general homework/printing, one at my home office, and will sell the last at cost to my brother or uncle if they want it.

I will be anxious to see if a good way to refill the toner carts comes up. If not, I may keep that third printer and use it instead of buying another toner cart. :-D

Awesome deal!

Many thanks to the OP... this was truly an outstanding find, and worth the relatively small amount of effort I had to put in to get one. Stopped by one store, printer guy asked if I needed help and I told him what I was looking for, and he smiled and shook his head. The second store didn't have any, but encountered a salesperson that was extremely helpful and had actually seemed unaware that the deal existed. He looked it up in his system and found one in stock in another store. Sent my wife by to check it out, and they had one that was on hold for someone for 2 days without being picked up. The manager said they would give them another day and to call back in the morning, I did so, and he said come on in, he'd sell it to me.

This is a REALLY nice printer, especially for the price! Print quality at lowest setting and with toner save on was barely (if at all) distinguishable from highest for text printing.

If anyone isn't aware, you can access a ridiculous amount of settings in the printer through a web interface, just enter the IP address of the printer in your browser.

Thanks again, OP!

I noticed that Circuit City online has the same printer for $229 with a $50 rebate. Having found and bought one at a local OD last week, I bought another one on the same day from Circuit City. After it arrives, I will attempt to use my receipt from OD as proof for a PM. If the store does not account for the rebate, I should end up getting net Cash Back on this deal. Hope this will work.

Thanks OP. Went to one store in Chicago area, who located the only two remaining stores with inventory. Called since it was 30+ miles away and was told - Yes, they had it in stock. Confirmed they would hold, and was told yes. When I arrived, they couldn't find it.

Manager was actually very nice - confirmed one other NIB at one other store and arranged to ship it to me UPS - no charge. Also offered (without me even asking) to give me a $10 OD gift card for my trouble and gas.

So, excluding my gas for a (slightly) wild goose chase, I will have the printer for $29.99 (+ tax on $39.99).

Thanks again, OP!

I checked online and none of the three store around me have any in-stock (Seattle, WA).

I'm tempted to call (as most people are), but then I run the risk of alerting the OD employees of this deal and having them purchase it themselves instead of selling it to me (or another FW'er).

Good deal for those who got one (or a few).

picked last one up in Willow Grove, PA, said they sold out in the area first day of the sale.

Is the cartridge that comes w/ this printer refillable? I read the instructions Herebut where do i make the hole for this cartridge.

What kind of fiddling, not having any luck on this end . . . first got a page that said over $100, then got the $39.99 then got discontinued/not available . . .

Consisted of some combination of adding it to the cart, getting the 'discontinued' notice, choosing in-store pickup, picking the store, then it magically appeared...YMMV.

I was able to get one, just wondering if anyone knows a cheap place to get the toner for it, I dont think Office Depot even carries the toner for this model.

Samsung laser printers are great ,,, the best part is that they make the cartridges easy to refill,,, I have 2 and the carts are generally good for 3 refills before the drum shows wear....makes for near zero cost per page,,,
