Man I remember when these portable DVD players first hit stores. This thing would have been like $500.00. I noticed in past threads of discover and/or other cards offering some sizable gift. I feel like there was one for a GPS and another for something else. If I'm not mistaken weren't people having a hard time actually getting said rewards in the mail? This is a pretty sweet deal. I just want to make sure that I'm actually going to get it though. Your thoughts? |

Your thoughts? The GPS showed up much faster than expected. I am hoping the same happens with the DVD player. |

I made a $1.08 purchase on this card in order to fulfill the purchase requirement for this offer. I made no other purchases during my statement month. Then I found out that Discover applied a "small balance credit" to my monthly statement, which credited the $1.08 purchase, so I have a statement with zero balance and no payment required. Apparently, they do this when the monthly balance is small (perhaps under $2) so as to not have to process and mail out a statement. Hopefully, this won't screw anything up with the DVD player offer? |

Happened to me once with a Sony Visa $150 offer. Just make another charge but a little bigger this time. |

Why take a chance? Buy your next thing with this card? Right now, when I activated the clerk told me, you get 5% back on gasoline. This is the quarterly reward dealio. |

The idea that most people have laptops is a bold assertion. Portable DVD players are still very much in demand. It would be like saying that most cars have a GPS in them from the factory so the Garmin nuvi200 offer was bad. |

I read somewhere that if you use your computer to watch DVD a lot(especially on the road), your computer's cdrom part could be damaged. |

I got the a580 camera about 2 months ago. I didn't cancel the credit card. I tried to apply for this credit card and it says I will get a decision in a few days. I didn't get an e-mail when I try to apply for it. What are the chances that I will get rejected? |

me neither...waiting since jun 29 Well, I made my first purchase on 6/28. I haven't been billed yet, so I would assume you have to be billed and post a payment before the processing kicks in. I might be wrong about having to pay first, but it would make sense. |

Laptops do not have the same battery life as a dedicated portable DVD player. Actually, the battery life on this DVD player is pretty bad compared to other portable players that can do 6+ hours. It only has "Up to 2.5 hours of playback with built in battery", which is comparable to a laptop. |
