Would this be considered a "Hot" or a "Cold" deal?

I too have heard that Panasonic puts out some really good AC's, I'm not sure how their pricing is though.

We bought a window AC unit a couple years ago and just got around to installing it last weekend. First time installing a window AC. It wasn't too bad and we found using a 1/4" thick piece of plexiglass (2 pieces to fill the gaps) works pretty well for blocking out the areas of the window not covered by the AC unit. We also used a couple small pieces of hardy-backer board (1/2" thick) and pieces of 1"x2" wood to stabilize the unit and hold up the plexiglass in the window along with the "arm" bracket which came with the AC unit and used 100% silicone caulk around the edges to weather/bug proof.

Since we're new at installing AC units, it took ~3 hours.

Nice having it cool in the bedroom for a change (our colonial is REALLY hot upstairs).

We've got to do a similar project in the office with a "standup" floor AC unit cause the office is even hotter than the other rooms and we've got 2 PCs running at times.

Can these be used to heat in the winter? If they can, are they efficient as heaters.

In general, can window ac units be used as heaters, or only certain models designed as such?

I'm alone in a big ole house and it would be great to heat and cool only a room or two.

TIA

My small Panasonic works incredibly well - got it through 'mazon with
free shipping a couple years ago (no longer available). It's the ONLY
AC that has a really functional thermostat. I can keep it on all night
long at a certain temp and it will adjust itself steadily. It's also
quiet and well designed. All the controls are not user-friendly, but
probably because it's trying to do things some ACs don't try to do (dehumidify-only mode,
energy-saver mode, etc.).

I haven't been able to find any reviews for this model, what reviews are you referring to? Have you personally used this model before? If so, what's bad about it?
