Got an email from Sprint last night advertising the new Samsung Instinct which is basically Sprint's answer to the iPhone for $130. It says to print the email and bring it in to the Sprint store, but I assume you can just tell them you got an email saying its $130. There's no pricing info on the Sprint site so I don't know if that's just the regular price, but that seems like an awesome deal! Way cheaper than any other PDA phone I've been looking at.

Only downside is I think you need a $70 plan... any hacks around it like the Blackberry one? I'd like to keep my $30 Sero plan.

We're glad you're interested in our new Instinct. Here's what you need to know about available plans:

Before you buy or upgrade

To take full advantage of the Instinct's expansive features, you'll need an innovative approach to service. That's why we're only offering the Instinct with Everything or Talk/Message/Data Share plans, which include domestic voice, e-mail, texting, GPS navigation and more.

If you're a current customer upgrading to the Instinct

After you receive your new phone, you can activate it online. If you don't already have an Everything or Talk/Message/Data Share plan, you'll be required to change your current plan during the activation process. At that time, you can select the plan that's right for you.

IMO thats a huge downside. I'd rather pay more for the phone upfront that be locked in a contract for $70 minimum per month.

I wonder how much it will be with sero plan.

what's the blackberry hack you're talking about?

Asked a friend that works at sprint and it's actually on sale today but they are selling it only with a new plan and you must get the $99 everything plan. I don't know if you can cancel the service within 30 days and keep the phone but pay the full price. Might be the only way to go about it.

They're going for $500ish unactivated on eBay.

sprint has gone back and forth on this if you track the info since april (same with the price).

The Samsung Instinct™ will be here June 20th!
Only from Sprint. Only on the Now Network™.

Our new Samsung Instinct launches this week, and we'll be offering it to our customers at a phenomenal price of $129.99 after instant savings and mail-in rebate.

While we knew interest would be high, the ultra-competitive price now means we're forecasting unprecedented demand for the Instinct - higher than originally anticipated. Therefore, to get it into our customers' hands first, it will not be immediately available through employee phone programs as originally planned.

Once we have a couple of weeks to gauge sales demand, we'll let you know exactly when the Instinct will be available to employees. Once available, the Instinct pricing will be as follows:

Employee Discount Rate Plan (EDRP): Instant price $129.99*
Normal employee program upgrade eligibility rules apply (once every 12 months).

Advantage Club: $129.99* after $100 mail-in rebate
Normal employee program upgrade eligibility rules apply (once every 12 months). Compatible with all three Advantage Club rate plans.

Sprint Exclusive Referral Offer (SERO): $129.99* after $100 mail-in rebate
At launch, the Instinct will only be available for SERO customers selecting the $99 Simply EverythingSM Unlimited Plan either with a new line of service or as an upgrade. New SERO rate plans that are compatible with the Instinct will launch on July 13th. SERO subscribers upgrading to the Instinct before July 13th will need to swap out their current rate plan for the $99 Simply Everything Unlimited Plan or will need to move to a non-SERO account.

* Requires new activation or eligible upgrade. Full retail price of $449.99 applicable for ineligible upgrades.

When the Instinct is available, getting one couldn't be easier-just call, click or visit:

EDRP: Visit a Campus Retail Store or call EDRP Telesales at 888-503-3078

Advantage Club: Visit a Campus Retail Store or go to the Advantage Club Online Store (type "employeephone" in your i-Connect browser, then choose to Shop Advantage Club)

SERO: Click www.sprint.com/sero or call 1-888-882-4030

Sprint is smoking crack if they think I'm going to pay them $100 a month to use a not-iphone. Sheesh.

Does any1 know what the new sero rate plans? I don't mind if they raise the rate to 40 from 30.

Forcing people to pay $100 a month for this phone makes this deal stone cold.

What a joke. You must get a $99 plan to use this phone? At this price people would get the iphone, not this.

just came back from visiting a sprint store in dallas. they have instincts but will only sell to customers who had gotten the presale email. i asked if they had any i could play with, but they said they coudlnt bring any out until tomorrow when it is officially on sale. i like to mess around with the phone first before purchasing it, guess i'll have to do it tomorrow.

from all media indications this is a worthy IPhone competitor.
Early adopters will have to cough up $99 per mos to be a fashionista I am afraid.
Same ppl who are kicking themselves from Iphone I.

why?? even insticnt cheapest plan also $70 making it 1680... not 2376... $99 is only if you want unlimted of everything..

So the mathc is Iphone - 1879... instinct is 1810... also ATT taxes and surcharges are far more than Sprint.

You guys have to realize that having a 3G iPhone does NOT mean you're going to get 3G speeds. AT&T has a very limited 3G Network, and they're taking their time to expand. Despite the speed of the network, the Safari browser renders pages a lot quicker than any other mobile browser right now. I'm just anxiously awaiting to see how the browser on the Instinct is. If I were Samsung, I would have partnered with Opera to have a better web browsing experience.

I c, the cheapest plan is 70. Anyway, the iphone is better than instinct; however, sprint have more services for 70 than att. Either way, i won't be getting the their new phone. I sticking to my 30 sero plan and i wait until my plan is up next year and received 150 credit on a new phone.

People don't waste money if you don't have to
