Thanks, OP! I've been waiting for this deal....

I got these on the Buy.com $150 AR deal a while back, and I have to say I'm very impressed. They're loud, great bass, but the surprising thing is they're pretty well balanced. Previous logitech sets seemed to have no mid, just lotsa bass (too much!) and clear highs. It made for fatiguing long-term listening, and I always preferred my headphones. With the z5500's, I sometimes forget I'm not using my headphones. Crazy.

Plus, the control unit is great (can control rears/centers separately). Definitely worth it.

Yup, these speakers are where it's at for any personal computer entertainment. The bass is ridiculous, I barely have it at 1/4th power.

Dell E&A coupons stack with this?

I bought these on Amazon in March. The prices on Amazon for these, were fluctuating that week; I price matched them every time it dropped. That, the $40 rebate from Logitech, free Amazon shipping, and no NYS tax, helped me snag them for $115 shipped

PS: Yes, I have already gotten the rebate from Logitech.

I also used the Amazon chase card, which gave me an extra 3% Cash Back on $155.

Yikes, you need to try a real HT setup if you think the Z-5500s are well balanced. There's a huge gap in the midrange still.

Not threadcrapping, this is a very nice deal for the set, and green for the OP.

Oh, I'm sure they are still pretty crappy. I actually bought these for a movie room. I really wanted to get something decent, but I put my budget at $200 and all the other all-in-one HT setups looked like they'd have worse sound. Plus, I figured since it was low budget movies-only, it wouldn't matter if it were bass heavy... that actually adds to the fun a little (sometimes).

I used to have an older 5.1 logitech set (can't remember which, about 7 years ago), which were about $80 or so and they were really bass heavy, no mids, and really kinda annoying to listen to for long periods. I was very surprised that the z5500's were actually pleasant to listen to. They're the only computer speakers I actually don't mind listening to music with, vs. my headphones (simple Sennheiser HD497's). Most other speakers (admittedly, they're all cheap/crappy sets) are kinda annoying.

So I'd say, for the non-discriminating listener, these are very decent. Plus, eventually they'll just be movies only, and they work well for that (and have a ton of decoding built in, nice touch).
