Shipping could kill the deal, it's like $5 per just 1 movie, BUT it's still the cheapest for the HD DVD itself at $3.99. $8.99 is still pretty good deal, you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere, however.

Good thing is, the more you order, the cheaper the shipping is per each movie. I ordered 8, and came out $18.95 for shipping... $2.36 per movie.

Do HD-DVDs play on the PS3 or is it only for Blu-Ray? I know that it plays regular DVDs and Divx, but not sure if it will play HD-DVD since I believe they were competitors to the Blu-Ray technology...I was looking for cheap blu-ray movies, but this is the closest I've found so far.

Unfortunately, if you wanted cheap HD discs you supported the wrong format by purchasing your PS3. Now you get to watch for deals on blu-ray for (hopefully) less than $19.99 a disc. Whoopie!

the key is to still eye dvdpricesearch. I look at alot of used ones on Amazon where they are handler, I get free shipping that way. eBay get too pricey as HD DVD are still selling well over what you can buy them for online

I plan to get a PS3 as soon as they have the profile versions straighten out. tried to do the WalMart deal but they were out of stock. a HD DVD console for HD DVD/upconversion DVDs and a PS3 is the way to go. covers the entire spectrum

I thought HD-DVD technology was going away. I wasn't keeping up with it, but from casual conversation around the office, I thought Blu-Ray won the race by default since the owner of HD-DVD technology dropped out of the race...? Is HD-DVD still a big thing or is that why they are selling for cheap?

hd-dvd SHOULD be going away... but lots of delusional fools throughout america keep buying them. heopefully once the current stock dwindles to zero we will stop hearing about this aberration other than in jokes along with laserdisc

Or you can do what I did....

Supported Blu-Ray as a fairly early adopter.

Paid ~$28 shipped for my HDDVD Player

Sold the 5 Free HDDVDs for around $40
(now the nest on the HDDVD player is -$12)

Purchased 18 disks for an average of $11

Enjoyed my Blu-Ray player, my HDDVD movies and a great upconverting DVD player while a lot of people were watching Transformers/Zodiac/Knocked Up on SD DVD.

Seems worth it to me. But some people just love to hate or they're too stupid to realize the player doesn't stop working because the format war is over.
