Similar experience here. Very lifelike and high-quality when it arrives, but with the chimp head, the silicone skin is very fragile and will tear after a while. In my case, it happened after a year or so. Also, the pigmentation would rub off if you touched it too much. That being said, it was a very unique item and kids that came in were absolutely enchanted by it.
For $60, split up among 6 co-workers, we're in for one.

So, we actually bought one of these in WalMart in January. Very creepy, but my kids LOVED it! It's eye's had sensors, and they followed you around the room. When we tired of it, we sent it to friends who like a bit of the offbeat. It found a home at their office where he has many visitors every day!
Finally! my fish on the wall plaque will have a friend.
You folks finding these too fragile, maybe you should check out a realdoll?

My dad had the monkey one of these and loved it. He would put it in his car at a car show and scare little kids. He should love this one also.

I have the chimp, too. I've been wanting to get an Elvis and then switch their skins. A chimp singing "Love Me Tender" and a howling, screeching Elvis can square off in my living room.
