This is a great deal for a (USB and) Firewire 2.5" enclosure, especially with a 320GB drive inside. You can probably use a coupon to bring it down to less. Not sure what drive is inside.

Not to threadcrap, but Newegg has a WD My Passport (320gb) for $106. Is this drive any better?

WD is USB 2.0 only. That's the quite major difference here.

Well, Mac users can only use Firewire so far... no usb for them.
Firewire/400 is faster than USB 2.0 when it comes to external HDD, even though USB 2.0 has the higher theoretical max bandwidth. USB 2.0 also has a bigger overhead in terms of using the CPU than FW/400.
On the other hand, you can find USB 2.0 on pretty much every computer within the last 3-4 years, and you'll see it on any new computer you buy. FW is much less common.
If you need to put a lot of data through such as uncompressed video, use FW. It excels at sustained read/write operations. If you're only going to be backing up a few photos or mp3s at a time and don't need the faster speed that much, you're probably okay with just USB 2.0.

Well, Mac users can only use Firewire so far... no usb for them.Um, no. Macs come with both Firewire and USB 2.0. Any Mac can use both. And Macs have full-size FW connectors, not those silly mini plugs found on many Windows laptops.
The disadvantage is for many Windows laptop users who can't use the much faster transfer speeds due to not having a Firewire connection at all.

Also as mention before, the Mac Air does not have firewire port and only a lone USB port.

4pin = not powered port
