A strip of 12 food tickets will cost $8. That includes a $2-per-strip charge for city services, including trash removal and recycling. If you want to avoid the $2 city service tax, you can buy food tickets at Dominick's grocery stores before the festival starts.

You are required to have a Dominick's Fresh Values card and there is a limit of 4 strips per purchase.
If you shop at Dominick's you may get a strip free at checkout. I was checking out the other day and I was a random winner of a free strip. I'm not sure if they are still doing it, but there were about 50 names on the sheet I signed when I was a "winner".

I brought strips last year at Dominicks and wasn't ask for Fresh Values card and I just brought 4 strips about a hour ago and wasn't ask for Fresh Values card, so YMMV.
The dominicks in the south loop didnt require fresh value card. The dominicks in river north/ gold coast sold unlimited (not limited to 4)
