I like the Valspar (lowes) paint better then the Behr (HD), esp for dark colors.
Also I have used the primer. It comes out dry like a saten feal, but the flat paint I put on top looks great. So don;t worry if after you use the primer it has a little sheen to it, its normal.

Oh my god, I love you! (I'm a girl)

I have just had the exterior of my house primed, and am set to buy exterior paint today. I finally settled on a color. However, I will wait until next Wednesday, because I need like 12 gallons, and this will save me $$.

I wanted a deal on Valspar, because I heard good things about the quality and I have all kinds of coupons and gift cards for Lowe's.

You cannot directly click on SD links in the FW forum. Have to copy and paste the link into your browser.

I bought Valspar Signature paint during the last rebate event during Memorial Day weekend, and I was surprised at how fast they processed the rebate submission. Took 3-4 weeks to get the checks, and they allowed a submission of several rebate receipts, which also serve as the rebate applications, in one envelope. No upc's (original or copy) were required. Easy and quick.

Op's current rebate links are for Olympic paint (apparently on rebate before Valspar, just as they did for Memorial Day weekend). I assume the Valspar ones aren't available yet, but it doesn't matter, because rebate receipts are printed at the register.

If anyone is interested, Valspar's EXterior Premium Satin (low lustre) and their Premium Semi Gloss are rated in the June, 2008 Consumer Reports as their 4th and 5th best
(tied, actually) after testing for the equivalent of 9 years exposure.

Be careful guys... it looks like the rebates are for different dates depending on which paint you buy.

Olympic between 6/25/08 and 7/2/08.
Valspar/Duramax between 7/2/08 and 7/6/08.

I JUST bought a 5 gallon of the 1-2-3. Oh well I can use the 5 gallon valspar rebate when we paint the basement.

You could buy a new 5 gallon bucket and return the new bucket with the old reciept. That way you get the rebate and still keep your primer.
