4850 and 4870 from ATI perform better than the Nvidia counterparts.

Good deal.

I haven't looked at the details of this deal, but if you're looking for a mid-range card, look no further. On paper this looks to be an incredible deal.

Performance better than 8800GT which came out last year, but it came out at around $300. Excellent value for this card.

A few reviewers says that this card runs hot. So have adequate airflow. Good deal though.

From what I'm reading, it's probably a safe statement that the 4850 reference design, regardless of the card manufacturer, runs very hot. Lots of people are talking about putting supplementary fans in their systems, or even swapping out the cooling setup on the card, to get manageable temps.

Good deal OP.

The card manufacturers may also release new drivers for firmware to increase the fan speed to cool it down as well.

I have my Asus 4850 from last week's deal.. Really fast card. The cooling on it stinks though so beware. I think they are all about the same design and consistency. The fan is very loud at 100% rpm, not so bad at lower rpms but I am not sure if powercolor drivers provide a fan control, Asus one did.

It's a weird issue with the BIOS where the idle clock speed of the card is unnecessarily high. The new MSI BIOS reduce that clock speed to 1/3, so that helps a great deal.

I currently use ATI tool to control the fan speed of my ATI card, although it might not be updated to work with the latest fan.

I'm guessing this will be a popular card to mod with a nicer, quieter zalman fan. I would be interested to hear of any discussion regarding the fan replacement of this card.

if you get this card you might as well get the combo with the 2gb micro sd card since it costs the same. But the code doesnt work for me? expired?

Good alternative to a Geforce 8800GT.

Card is now $5 cheaper using code VGA71415 -- it has an instant rebate right now (wasn't there this morning when I put it in my cart).

189.99 - 5 IR - 25 Rebate - 15 code = 145, and it still has free shipping.
