That probably depends on whether the previous owner registered it.....I'm guessing if they did you are out of luck.....if not though, I doubt Garmin could tell this was a refurb, as long as the serial number was the same. I purchased a nuvi 350 off of eBay and I received the map upgrade just fine...
Not sure how it works with Garmin, but I bought refurb Tom Tom a while ago and I get both the one year warranty and free map update.
Why is this deal hot...I got new ones for free from mygpsoffer.com for the discover card...and its brand new.
Might be because not everybody wants to sign up for a credit card to get a ~$130 GPS unit.
I'd suggest using MS CashBack on the bay to land at ~$112 or less if you can get a coupon to stack. Or see if you can get CC to take a 15 off 100 and land about the same. ~$115 is a solid value.
