Dell4600 said:It's funny - a week ago the $250 special ended up costing about the same when I added in all the goodies I wanted (more memory, bigger hard drives) but for some reason I feel more inclined to jump on the $250 one after tacking on another $200 in upgrades, as opposed to the $350 one after tacking on another $100 in upgrades. Plus - this one comes with twin 160s that can be upgraded to twin 250G drives for $30 apiece.
I've been wanting a nice new PowerEdge box with 4G of memory in it, maybe I will pull the trigger this time.
Good catch OP
Eh, I've been shopping them for a long time and from one sale to the next, they dont really change much at all. I will say, without the sale, you'll end up with a celeron for the same money as this low end dual core chip, but dont be confused... its not a core 2 duo. I was going through it really quick and quoted a customer as it being a core 2 duo.. had to look stupid(as I was) on that one.
But the ram is definitely a good deal. $60 to upgrade to 4GB is better than Newegg.com I'm pretty sure.. especially ECC ram.
Additionally, pair it with a Raid card like this one.. http://www.Newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103059 and you've got a good little box. I had pretty good results with that card.
