It's at Buy.com, and it's $189.99 minus a new $30 MIR, making it the lowest price I could find at PriceGrabber or Froogle right now. Next lowest is Newegg, where it's about $168 AR shipped right now. No game in the box, but you do get an excellent BFG warranty.

This card is even more overclocked than the BFG 8800GT OC and OC2 models (see below), themselves the subject of several hot deals lately. What really sets the OCX aside is its massive cooler, making it a 2-slot card (unlike the OC and OC2) but greatly improving its heat dissipation both at idle and under load. Some of the uniformly positive reviews suggest that the muscular cooling apparatus gives the OCX additional headroom for even more overclocking, if that's your bag. The reviewers also praised the quietness of the OCX's fan. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the fan glows green while it's running.

Can't really recommend a 8800GT with the ATI HD 4850 being available for $160-$170 AR and performs considerably better than this card.

Agreed. The 8800GT was a fantastic card for a long time but it's reign has ended. I'm sure Nvidia will either drop the price accordingly soon or, more likely, stop selling the 8800GT altogether and have the 9600GT be the mainstream part at a lower price point than the significantly better 4850.

As someone who bought a couple of 4850s myself already, I agree in theory, but all of the 4850s that have come along so far have issues with scorching heat, loud fans, lack of software to control fan speed, and/or somewhat less desirable warranties---all areas where this OCX card excels. (As a next gen card, also wished they had spec'd the 4850 with an HDMI port...but they didn't. At least, I haven't seen one on any of the 4850 deals that have surfaced so far. Can't get everything, I suppose). The fan software will show up in time, and sooner or later someone will make a 4850 with simply better and quieter cooling, so I agree that it is poised to become the best sub-$200 solution shortly.

I suspect we will see a few really hot deals on 8800GT's in the meantime until the last of the inventory dries up. Hopefully we'll see cards like the OCX make it to the ~$120 price point before they disappear, which would be an astonishing bang-for-the-buck value that the 4850 won't be able to touch without further price cuts.

Good deal, but I think I'll wait for them to really drop in price. I currently have an 8800GT in my rig, and if they hit the 120 range I'll probably snag another one for SLI.

If you have a mobo that supports it the cheapest fastest rig in existance right now is SLI'd 8800GT's. Check out Anandtech's review of the new 280, a $650 monster of a card that is beat out by the 8800GT SLI quite a few times. Please note I'm not recommending BUYING 2 8800GT's for SLI, I'm saying if you already have one, and have a mobo that supports it (and power supply that can handle 2), there is no better bang for the buck than adding another 8800GT. But I would scoop it up relatively soon because many people (myself included) are predicting it may disappear shortly.
