For those of us who missed out on earlier deals - a GREAT price for a quality, feature-packed 7.1 receiver with HDMI passthrough, a similar deal can be had at Circuit City:
http://www.CircuitCity.com/rpsm/oid/180524/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
Online only, outlet price is $220.36, with free ground shipping. Use coupon code KFAFKQZA4J to get another 10% off - worked for me. With sales tax (CA), total is $213.69.

Was hoping to find a closeout Onkyo TX-SR605, but no luck so far. Have 30 days to return / PM the TX-SR575.

IMO this is not a good receiver to buy. Please note that this recevier will not be able to play the new lossless audio formats such as True HD and DTS-HD. For about $99 more you can buy the SR576 on eBay which can play all the new formats if you have a PS3.

Just keep in mind that if you buy this receiver it is already obsolete and you won't be able to take full advantage of your Bluray player.

Heres a thead that talks about the SR576 which is truly future proof for 5+years http://boards.ign.com/dvd_home_theater_board/b5043/161837292/p1/

Thanks, Warrior. The link above cites some limitations on the SR576 in regard to composite inputs, which for me is a bigger deal than taking full advantage of blueray or PS3 - for which I have neither. As the thread suggests, and mentioned in my post above, my first choice is the SR605, but for ~$200, this is a great upgrade from my current HT-R340, and should meet my needs for some time.

Good point. If you are not going to use a Bluray or HD-DVD player this is an excellent receiver. But I think in the next few years the new video formats may be more widespread and being stuck with an obsolete receiver would be tough.

I'm assuming that it's a mistake from CC website that has the TX-SR575 with 3 HDMI inputs? Everywhere else, I see it has 2 (even below, from the manufacturer description, it has 2).

Believe you are correct. Detailed specification lower on the page shows 2, as does all other web sites I have browsed.
