It was this price for the last couple of weeks because i got one at $399 2 or 3 weeks ago
Last week i picked up two....It's a good one for basic and mid level computing... i really liked crystal sharp screen... Pointing mouse pad behaves weired... Still good deal.
i'm thinking that the acer from OD may be a better deal for $100 more... faster processor 3gb ram vs 1gb(only upgradeable to 2) vista home premium vs basic built in webcam vs no webcam
not threadcrapping but trying to see what you guys think because i bought the acer but it hasn't been delivered

this has vista premium.
saw that after i posted... i figure $50 for the extra ram webcam $25 faster processor $25 so maybe it's close to a wash...i kinda like being able to have xtra ram because vista on 2gb can equal pain
Maybe sweeten the deal... I noticed that BB also has a rebate offer if you buy a Laptop+Printer. Several printers available and rebate varies from $39-$70. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?type=category&id=pcmcat150600050017

How do you schedule the pickup? Do you just place the order now and show up on Sunday morning to pick it up? or you schedule it somehow. Will my credit card be charged now or when I picked up the order?

ThanksYou place your order and specify in-store pickup. You have 9 days (I think) in which to pick up your order, or it will be canceled. Your CC will be charged after you place the order, and will be credited if the order is canceled.
Alohatofu said: I looked at the Bestbuy ads and I'm not seeing this laptop for $399Do you have the ad for 7/6 - 7/12? That's the ad OP says has the $399 price.
Something to be aware of, in the past BestBuy has used "regional pricing", where a laptop will be $399 in some regions, but $449 in others. No problem if you wait until you know what the price at your BB is. If it's higher and you don't want to pay it, either call and cancel the order or wait for it to automatically cancel.
Note that max. memory is only 2GB. With Vista 2GB max. is not that good. I would still go for Staples $399 deal next week or OD acer with 3GB (expandable to 4GB).

Thanks OP, it's a good deal, similar to Toshiba lappy that BB had few days back, for 400 bucks this is quite powerful machine although L2 cache is 1 MB and FSB is 533Mhz. No Firewire, built-in camera or bluetooth though...Still a good buy.

Can someone confirm if the price diff gets credited on pickup?

So, return & rebuy, or do they credit the diff if you pick up on sale-day? Anyone know?

I'm typing from one right now running XP. There's a site that includes all XP drivers for this laptop as well as detailed instructions and installation order.

You would pay $599 now. In the cart it is $599Sorry, I wasn't very clear about what I meant. You will pay the non-sale price now, and when you pick it up during the sale, you will get the credit to your card. I have done this twice, and both times it went smoothly.
thanksop said: Is it like 1 GB RAM is not enough at all for Windows Vista? Because my laptop still has the 1 GB RAM as per this deal and it is dead slow. Is this the case with anyone else with this laptop? The laptop performance doesnt look like that of a recently bought laptop. ThanksWith Vista they say the more memory the better. Some say 2G is enough and some say 4G is better. If I were you, I would upgrade to 2G. (If your ram socket supports 2G card, might as well upgrade to 4G=2x2G while you are at it.)
Also search and read up on Vista performance tweaks.
