this is better due to better videocardWrong. This laptop has integrated graphics coupled with AMD arch. I know you have no idea what this means but as a summary all AMD laptops with current integrated video suck because of very high latency due to the memory controller being in the CPU the GPU must access the hyper-transport bus, then the CPU for the mem controller and finally hitting the shared memory while Intel based GPUs have DIRECT access to system memory controller.
This is also a reason why AMD Turion x2 cpus run so HOT. They never have a chance to "sleep" due to the integrated graphics constantly polling the CPU for its memory controller to access shared memory.
To sum up, reality is not what YOU make beieve it is.

i'm thinking that the acer from OD may be a better deal for $100 more... faster processor 3gb ram vs 1gb(only upgradeable to 2) vista home premium vs basic built in webcam vs no webcam
not threadcrapping but trying to see what you guys think because i bought the acer but it hasn't been delivered

Yeah, what he said. Plus this one doesn't come with a flux capacitor.

Actually Funyun is wrong in respect to why the AMD isnt better than the intel. He can recite stats all day long, but to the layman it means squat. While most items needed on a laptop will vary from one person to the other, the hard stats are subjective. A Honda civic is quite a nice economical car with decent room, but if you plan on hauling 8 people and a camper to the campgrounds then you may want to look at the Pilot instead. Whats that? Its just you and the ole lady? Well take the Civic then!!
Has anyone compared the specs of this laptop to the one Best Buy will have on sale also at $399 starting Sunday. It is the Compaq 762NR. I'm planning on buying a laptop this weekend and would like to know how these match up. I do know the one at BestBuy uses the Intel rather than this one using the AMD processor.

This AMD model from Staples is a good deal also but Best Buy is Intel based and can not be beat.
AMD will have the upper hand in budget laptops with integrated graphics when they release their "Puma " platform soon.

1. Hyper-transport is independent from memory bus speed. Hence as long as the other notebook memory is less than 1066mhz, its memory speed is not going to be faster than hyper-transport (i believe runs at 800mhz)
2. memory controller in cpu speeds up CPU - memory access speed, has NOTHING! nothing! to do with GPU-Memory... its a technique to speed up CPU-memory, its not even relevent here.
3. intel 3100 runs shared memory and is slower than m6100. m7000 is about 30% faster than m6100.
from above reviews, we can see 6150 ~= 1250, while 1250 >> faster than 3100 Onion, time to stick your tails back into your Ars and run run run!
More review just to prove Onion got OWNED! " While a couple of games like Far Cry and F.E.A.R. delivered as well as any competing ATI or nVidia part, the majority of my experiences with the X3100 have been disappointing. "

The poster above is pretty accurate, though harsh. In my quest to replace an old laptop, I bought 2 Turion notebooks and returned them. It's hard to explain, but Intel notebooks run smoother - they also last much longer on a fully charged battery. The 2 Turion notebooks lasted about 1hr on a fully charged battery, in contrast the Intel platform has lasted over 3 hours.
Beware! Manufacurers will write the specs so you think a notebook has dedicated graphics when in fact they dont. The most prevalent were Nvidia 7150. The website Here was a mojor help for determining quality video cards for laptops.
Hope this helps.

does anyone know if there are rebates on antivirus and security softwares to knock the price for this laptop down to zero like last year?

Onion, stick your tail into your ars and get the F out of here! (stop spreading FUD)Simply too funny! You are not going to play games on ANY laptop with todays integrated graphics. Playing games is NOT the point I am making. The problem is you still dont understand. You dont understand the latency issues and power issues that an integrated memory controller causes coupled with integrated graphics. The reason why the GPU on the AMD is NOT better has already been explained. Its because it requires more steps and paths to access the shared memory (hyper-transport --> CPUs memory controller --> finally shared memory) and does NOT have direct access like the Intel GPUs. This is why latency for the GPU is SKY HIGH compared to intel and it is obvious you dont know what it means. Also because it must access the memory controller in the CPU, the CPU never gets to enter low power sleep mode. This is a major problem AMD tried to address my adding a small amount of narrow (32bit) "side memory" to prevent the GPUs constant access to the CPUs integrated memory controller but unfortunately Mfrs did not implement this extra memory to keep costs as low as possible. Do you STILL not understand??
Oh and I laughed hard when I read your #2 comment. It is clear you have no idea that integrated graphics use system memory for video memory (hence why they call it shared) which is ONLY attached to the integrated memory controller in the AMD cpu. Too funny.
You are out of your league here unholy...far out of...
