I called Packet8 and told them i wanted to cancel their service as T-Mobile is offering 10 $ VOIP plans. The CSR offered me a 9 $ discount. Instead of 24.99 my monthly unlimited plan will cost only 15.99. So including taxes i save 12 $. Its a YMMV. May be based on the CSR. Give it a try.

Note: I know there are cheaper VOIP options. But i am happy with Packet8 and this deal is for existing Packet8 customers....

so you're paying $6/month more than you would have with Packet8 ... should have held out for more, imho

Since the Tmobile offer is for a one year contract,
P8 also has a one year price, I never went for it, I suppose I should have.

Just switch to PhonePower ($199/1yr + 6 mons), as my 2 yrs (for $199) contract w/ ViaTalk expired & the quality of service is going down the drainage.

So far, so good....

The rep (T-mo) over the phone told me that they offer only 2 year plans - not a 1 year plan.

my general opinions of Packet 8:
I've been using Packet8 for about a year. So far the service has been good- voice quality is as good as sunrocket that I had before, and the up-time has been 99.99%.

My only real complaint is the inability to use a fax machine. I used to use my fax machine all the time with sunrocket, but Packet8 requires you to buy a seperate fax adaptor and pay an additonal monthly fee for fax capability. This is unacceptable to me, and I plan on switching because of it.
