As per the description!

Add FreshMaps as an accessory to get regular, trusted map updates for three years.

looks awesome but I wish it had bluetooth.

What about Canada maps for this GPS device? Can they be downloaded separately? I found no info on Navigons website.

unless new firmware has radically changed this unit I would stay away. owned this last Thanksgiving briefly and hated it--slow, laggy interface, weird routings, and inferior POI. Of course Costco is a no risk place to try this. Just keep the box and receipts.

warning: I've purchased and retured 2 of these exact unit due to lockups/freezing, requiring a hard reset and losing all your trip data. This occurs because it gets too hot when used in the car if it is sunny out. It is a design flaw or firmware flaw causing the unit to lockup . YOu definitely cannot use this on your windshield or leave it in the car when not in use.

It does indeed get hot, but that is what you get for on dash after market units. I normally place it at the edge of the dash using a beanbag type mounting accessory or let it cool down every so often. It is slow response for input but once it gets going, it is unbeatable. $199 widescreen unit with lifetime traffic and Costco return policy - INCREDIBLE!!! Run, don't walk to see if your local Costco has one. I just wish Zagat was also included for this price but perhaps I am being too greedy now...

Oh, and do not leave this on the dash when not in the car. Heat is one concern but THEFT is even a bigger concern. Get yourself a cheap leather case with some padding and drop it in the glove compartment when not in use.

I recently purchased one and it is a great device for the price but their maps are (currently) horribly outdated. They use the same map source (Navteq) as does my GM Nav in my truck and the Navigon has a mapping error that was fixed by Navteq on my Chevy with an update over a year ago. (the exit to my town is missing off a major highway). Maybe their product is inexpensive because they use outdated maps from Navteq. Other then the outdated map data it's a great value for the price. (Yes, it was updated from their website with the newest firmware and maps).

ummm, try READING and COMPREHENDING something before you make a baletently idiotic response and rating a neg. Inever mentioned ANYTHING about active cooling whatsoever. The unit has OVERHEAT ISSUES that cause the unit it lock up. I am not ralking about the unit getting hot from being on and using it, o'm talking about not being able to take the heat from the SUN coming into your car by say...uhhh... the GLASS you have in it, The unit has a low tolerance high temperatures above 140 degrees F. which can EASILY be achieved in a car on a hot summer day so if you leave the GPS IN the car at any time whether on the dash, glovebox or center console, it will FEEZE UP until it cools, which will be long after you make it to your destination. This unit was built with this design flaw and until they come out with a firmware upgrade, STAY AWAY.

There are PLENTY of reviews on this unit on google for this unit from people having lockup issues due to temp. and if you would do a search before you talk out your rear, you would be taken more seriously instead of looking like a clown.

Oh and the POI's in this unit SUCK, and maps are outdated. The interface is so slow and laggy you just want to throw it out the window. You mght as well because it locks up anyway rendering it USELESS

What a mean, mean person you are, you need to calm down, this is just a GPS unit and I am offering my experience using this, not offering up personal attacks which are uncalled for.

I have had the 2100 (not maxx), used it in the car in the dash, and have had ZERO lockup problems. As I mentioned before, by being smart and not leaving it on the dash all the time (and putting it in the glove compartment when parked), this is a great deal for a unit which has nice features not available at this price point. No need to scare people away, in fact I suggest they steer towards this puppy. To each his own, but my experience with this unit is unrivaled.

If the original software locks up so bad, there's always the igo8 route

I purchased one, and it did NOT come with either traffic or freshmaps. I'm still fighting with costco about this.

*Note: GPS unit and Navigation card shipping in separate packages.

This is in very small print on the website.
Hope they arrive together.....

You could always return it to Costco without any hassle.

No, they ship in separate packages. I've had the GPS unit for a couple of days now and while traffic and freshmaps are useful, this can run independently until they arrive. No traffic or fresh maps cards yet. Has anyone confirmed that freshmaps is truly included in the package or is it a typo?

It reads to me that only the lifetime traffic is included. They are just letting you know that Fresh Maps is an option.

Originally, the ad read: with up to 12 free map updates, along with Traffic Assist. When I did my purchase on 7/7, I assumed I was getting both.

It appears since then, the ad was changed to list FreshMaps as an optional purchase.

I called Costco Customer Service today to find out where my FreshMaps registration card is. The customer service agent was able to find somewhere that it did, at one time, say it included the map updates, and she has forwarded my query to their "follow up" unit.

If you ordered early - you may be able to get the Fresh Map updates, as it orginally advertised it. If you have not ordered yet, you are out of luck as the ad now specifically states that it is an option.

I will post an update when I hear back from Costco.

Edited to correct purchase date.
